World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can increase the value of weapons, armors and rings. Upgrades can also boost bonuses like crit chance and PvE Damage.

For instance an item with the upgrade template ending in % will gain 3% attack damage every time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases with the item's level.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be inserted into armor, weapons, and trinkets to provide a stat bonus or extra effect while they're in use. These can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors or trading with other players, or looting. Certain upgrades have unique cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be placed in equipment that has a slot for them; the item must have been at the very least upgraded to blue level to allow a component to be used. Unlike other mods, upgrade components can only be used once; they can't be used multiple times or replaced by new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a kind of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and ascended equipment, as well as some non-ascended items. Enrichments and Infusions can be obtained by salvaging equipment from the ascended state or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade can have a prefix or suffix changing the name of the item to which it is applied (for examplefor example "Canthan Armor Insignia" becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity, which allows players to create stronger versions of the equipment that require less Upgrade Crystals than are required to achieve the same level of upgrade through normal methods.

A boost upgrade can alter the defense or attack characteristics of a weapon or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist These upgrades can be made at the Portative Forging Station. They can also be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear or buying them from the cash store for 500 upgrade crystals each.

Each upgrade increases the probability that a better-quality version of an item will be available during the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to continue improving their equipment even if they're not sure of the extent to which it will increase after a future reset.

If a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process may be costly and there is a substantial possibility that the item will be obsolete or even break if it fails. A failed upgrade will destroy Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. This is mitigated by the availability of cash shop items that can increase or even eliminate the possibility of failure, as well as a few upgrades that give an additional benefit when they are inserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade components that can be placed in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs buff the power of all nodes within the area around them as well as existing affixes on equipment. Each Glyph has a certain range of values that it can improve a stat by, and the value is shown when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph that is the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.

You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of an Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain tools for gathering unlimited use, and through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt has a chance to drop one of the many Glyphs and there are also a few rare glyphs that can be found as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

After you have acquired the desired Glyphs you will need them to be placed on your gear. Each Glyph will grant a distinct bonus that can boost the stats of a specific set of nodes that are within a radius of the Glyph. It can be +40 for one of your primary stats or +25 for two of your secondary stats based on the Glyph.

Utilizing a Glyph will boost all nodes that are linked to it, and it is recommended to position your Glyphs close to key nodes on the Graph to maximize the impact. For example, a Druid should try to place their Glyphs near their primary damage points, however, you may also want to consider placing them near critical damage nodes, too.

Leveling

The item upgrading system allows players to improve the effectiveness of certain items by placing upgraded components into them. This is known as "upping". Each upgradeable item comes with an amount, which determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items are able to be leveled until they reach a maximum level of ilvl 385. Each level of an Best item upgrader requires a different number of components to be reached, and the upgrade costs increase as the item gets upgraded.

Certain upgrades require a certain ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or obtained from NPCs. Each completed Upgrade Recipe yields some Technology Points. These points can be used to the upgrading of an item. When enough points have been earned you'll be eligible to claim the upgrade and receive its additional bonuses.

When a player upgrades a piece of equipment it will be replaced with the new item upgrader kit. This means that the same piece of armor will be transformed into the form of a shield or weapon when upgraded. The new item also comes with its own bonus. This could be a disadvantage in that the Best item upgrader could be more expensive even if you do not require it.

The upgrades to items can be rerolled, provided that the player has enough tokens to be able to do so. The item will be replaced with a brand new one that has a base of level 1 and totally different bonuses. This can be useful however it should not be repeated often since it could waste resources.

Certain upgrades can boost their value, allowing players to customize their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it provides buffs when the player repeatedly enters or leaves the water. The item can be upgraded several times, increasing the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item upgrader kit can be extremely useful in PvP battles, since a perfectly rolled version of it can be worth between 20 and 50 times its value without being upgraded.

Requirements

The upgrade of items allows players to upgrade the level of their available equipment--armor, weapons, and trinkets above ilvl 385--by offering the appropriate items and currencies to an item upgrader (mozillabd.science blog entry) NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces boost the defense of the base set, while upgrades to weapon items boost their base damage and also increase their strength and dexterity.

Each item can be upgraded up to five times, with the exception of hero gear that can be upgraded with eight upgrades. Each time you upgrade an object it has a chance of failing. The probability of failure increases as you move beyond the maximum number. Failures can result in the item reverting back to its original state, which will force the user to spend more materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the highest number of upgrades.

If an item does not upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. The item also loses any bonuses it earned like chances to be crit damage to attack, other effects (such as increased heal over time or reloading speed). The player will be able to use their weapon or armor after the failure.

Whenever an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied in order from the lowest to the highest. This means that the weapon that is upgraded gains a crit chance increase that it will be applied before any attack damage increases. Slots is a brand-new attribute that has been added to item definitions. The value is calculated each time an upgrade occurs.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item are based on its rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The upgrade cost for non-premium items is equal to the base value of the upgrade--for example, a common equipment item could have five upgrades at a cost of 25600 Technology Points, 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items are less expensive per upgrade.

Premium items might require different upgrades than regular gear. For example they may require less sowels, however they may require more minerals and orons. Whatever the case, players will have to visit the NPC [Armorthe ] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they wish to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade costs listed above, each equipment upgrade will require the use of different ingredients needed to upgrade.
