The best automatic vacuum cleaner robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention. It leaves your floors spotless. Its affordable price and high-end features (such as dirt detector) are a plus.

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have tested. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model), they use smart mapping to create detailed floorplans and avoid household obstacles like furniture leg. They also feature carpet boost, a feature that increases the robot's power when it spots a lot of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned quickly.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our tests on floors that are bare and are particularly effective at cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to getting hung up on shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.

It's still a good value, especially if your office or home has lots of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. It's also quiet and operates while you're at work or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for one that is wet in just a few minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its smart cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean and effective in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also features a self-emptying bin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best automatic vacuum robot hoover for carpets, but it's not as good as other hoovers when it comes to deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to ensure better cleaning. The app lets you set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a carpeted area to prevent cross-contamination. Its obstacle detection was great, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums, a feature that we've not seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

This mop and vacuum combination has a sleek, circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba unit than the boxy models of the rivals. It's one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It comes with advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning robot mop and vacuum manner).

It's also the only robot vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a concern in the mornings before work, or at night when you're trying to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are similarly capable and look better. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable however, it will cost you more and make more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take the care of vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot vacuum and mop makes use of an array of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its top competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection however this was not foolproof in our tests and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.

Its vacuum has a high suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home according to how dirty they tend to be.
