World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. They also boost extra bonuses like crit chance and PvE damage.

For instance a weapon that has the upgrade template ending in % will gain 3% attack damage every time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the level of the item rises.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be inserted into weapons, armor, and trinkets to provide an extra stat boost or effect when they're used. These can be obtained by crafting, purchasing from vendors or trading with other players, or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be placed in equipment that has a slot for them; the item must have been at a minimum upgraded to blue level for a component to be applied. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used one time; they cannot be applied multiple times or replaced by new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a special kind of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet ascended or legendary equipment as well as the back items that are not ascending. Infusions and enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment from the ascended state or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade may be prefixed or a suffix, modifying the name of the item to which it is used (for example "Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, allowing players to create stronger versions of the item using less Upgrade crystals than they require to achieve the same level with normal methods.

A boost upgrade is a way to alter the defense or attack properties of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades can be made from the Portative Forging Station once the player completes the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. They can be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear or purchasing them from the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.

Each upgrade increases the likelihood that a higher-tier version of an item upgrader mod will be available in the next reset. This gives players a reason to upgrade their equipment even when they're not sure what will be improved following an update.

Whether a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process can be costly and there is a significant risk that the item may be obsolete or even break when it fails. A unsuccessful upgrade could destroy the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item level upgrade. This is reduced by the availability of cash shop items that can increase or even eliminate the chances of failure, as well as some upgrades that offer a bonus when reinserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade elements which can be put in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs increase the power of nodes within a radius, including any pre-existing attaches. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways. We recommend upgrading them as fast as you can to level 15.

In the endgame, you will often find that the best way to enhance your equipment is to use Glyphs. These are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded up to level 15 and provide an enormous boost to your power on the Paragon Board.

Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced, but Glyphs are the only upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment that requires the use of a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and re-place.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it in your inventory. You can replace it with an Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.

Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of an Gem Store bundle or purchase the glyphs with certain tools that allow unlimited use, and during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the many Glyphs and there are some rare glyphs to be found as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs you'll require them to be put on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus that can boost a particular set of stat nodes that are within a radius of the Glyph. Based on the Glyph the bonus will be +40 to one of your primary stats or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

Utilizing a Glyph will boost all the nodes connected to it, and you should aim to place your Glyphs close to key nodes on the Graph to maximize the impact. Druids, for example, should place their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may also consider placing them near their critical damage nodes.

Leveling

The upgrade system for items allows players to increase the stats of specific items by adding upgraded components. This is referred to as "upping". Every upgradeable item has an amount, which determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be leveled up to a maximum level of ilvl 385. Each item level requires a different number of components to reach and the cost of upgrading increase as the item is upgraded.

Certain upgrades require a specific ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained from completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or on the upgrade tab in the crafting table. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed earns some Technology Points. These points can be used for leveling up an item. When enough points have been earned you'll be able to claim the upgrade and receive its additional bonuses.

When a player upgrades an item it is replaced with a new item of the same type. This means that the same armor piece will become the form of a shield or weapon when upgraded. The new item will come with a bonus of its own. This could be a drawback since the item may become more expensive even if you don't need it.

Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, provided that the player has enough reroll tokens in order to do so. The item upgrader mod will be replaced with an entirely new item that is based on a level 1 base and completely different bonuses. This can be beneficial, but should not be used frequently as it can waste resources.

Certain upgrades can increase their value and allow players to modify their equipment. A good example of this is Dolphin's Gift, which gives a buff when the player is repeatedly in and out of the water (or swims like dolphins). This can be upgraded several times, each time raising the maximum roll by 10 points. This item is extremely valuable in PvP. A perfectly rolled version can be worth as much as 50x the value of a non-upgraded counterpart.

Requirements

Item upgrading allows players to upgrade the quality of their equippable equipment - weapons, armor, and trinkets over ilvl 385 by presenting the appropriate items and currency to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces increase its base defense and upgrades to weapon items increase the damage they deal and also increase their strength and dexterity.

All items can be upgraded up to five times, except for hero gear, which can be upgraded eight times. Each time you upgrade an object it has a chance of failing. The failure rate increases as you move beyond the maximum number. Failures will result in the item reverting to its original condition and the player having to pay for more materials than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum amount.

If an item is not able to upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. Additionally the item will lose any gained bonuses such as crit chance and attack damage, and all additional effects associated with that effect (for example, increased heal over time or the speed of reloading). However, the user can still continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.

When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from the lowest to highest. This means that, when a weapon gains an increase in the chance of crit, the increase is applied before any increase in attack damage. Slots is a brand new attribute that was added to the definitions of items. The value is calculated each time an upgrade occurs.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is based on its rarity rating and upgrade slot count. The cost of upgrading non-premium products is equal to the base value of the upgrade--for example, a common equipment item might have 5 upgrades with a cost of 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items have a lower cost per upgrade.

Premium items could require different upgrades than normal equipment. For instance they may require less sowels, but they will require more minerals and orons. Whatever the case, players will need to visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they wish to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade cost mentioned above, each equipment upgrade requires a different amount of the ingredients needed to upgrade.
