Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our tests on floors that are bare They're also particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to get caught up in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of the room.

It's still a great deal for those whose home or office has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save money. It's also very quiet and works while you're at work or school. The only thing it lacks that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. And, if you need to, you can switch the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a compact, sleek package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has an impressive suction system and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best robot vacuum that mops robot vacuum for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and ensure cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when in a carpeted room to prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire home, and it did so with 66 percent of its battery left. It also did an excellent job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms with mixed flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds and cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums this feature, which we've not seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With an elegant, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competition's compact models, this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive designs in our tests. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

As with other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in the mornings before work or in the evening when you are trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive, although it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally powerful and look better. If you're willing with a little more noise and some additional cost this is a powerful two-in-one that will delight most.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take charge of both vacuuming and best robot hoover mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and spot obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its more expensive competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.

Its vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with an option known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the autonomous vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for various areas of the house depending on how dirty those areas tend to be.

If you have a bigger home, it is worth selecting a robot that comes with the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you tell the robot which area of your house needs to be cleaned using the app or voice command. If you have a lot of furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. Also, a recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum uk vacuum pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you would think from its price. It does a stellar job vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with only one pad and a reciprocating motion that is more efficient than most mop cleaners for robots that we've examined. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, plan the perfect spot for cleaning or sort out your rooms with the most dirt to ensure better performance. The app also grants access to a host of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. And you can set up a spot cleaning that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it is more likely to get caught in low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums that we've test. It also has an app that's not as intuitive, and a smaller base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
