Carpet detection boosts power automatically when it encounters rugs and the dual side brushes help to tease out debris from corners.

The mopping performance, though still impressive, is not as good. The mop's rotating mechanism spins fast and makes use of 2.2lbs to scrub dirt and stain. I've noticed that the front arm extends out a little more than other robots. This is helpful when getting into difficult corners or on baseboards. The front arms can also be employed to clean larger pieces of debris, such as broken toys or books.

Another good thing is that the S1 Pro is one of the quietest robot vacuums and mop I've ever tried. It is quieter and doesn't make as much noise when vacuuming or mopping. The S1 Pro is only limited by the fact that it has to utilize a specific mopping solution and is sold separately. It's simple to install and works well however, this is something that you'll have to be aware of when you purchase this vacuum solely for the purpose of mopping.

It's a bit old-fashioned to have separate modules for mopping and vacuuming, but it does mean that you don't need to worry about changing the bags for disposables or refilling the tank of water.

Our test participants discovered that the Matrix Plus did a great job of vacuuming and mopping. Its best feature was its precise floorplan map, which it uses to determine the path to follow when cleaning. It was easy for the Matrix Plus to navigate around furniture carpets, rugs and other obstacles. The biggest flaws were its lack of sophistication and the need to switch between the modules to switch between vacuuming and mopping. The app is not able to store multiple maps. The Yiko X1 Omni

The X1 Omni robot vacuum is the most expensive of our review. However, it does have certain unique features that make it worth considering. The X1 Omni is most notable for its enormous dock that serves as a charging base for the robot, a cleaning sink and two 4-liter water tanks. It also houses the 2.5-liter dustbin and an 2.5 milliliter dust bin.

The base also comes with a set of control buttons that allow you to manually start a cleaning job or recall the robot vacuum cleaner or start the dock's auto-emptying process. Hold down two of the buttons to toggle the child lock which is a great touch for parents worried about their children playing with the vacuum.

Similar to other robotic vacuums, the X1 Omni utilizes its camera to identify furniture and obstacles in its path, and then avoid them. Its True Mapping 2.0 navigation system will map your home 10 times faster than standard laser detection systems and is four times more accurate in recognising objects.

Unfortunately, this means that the X1 Omni can occasionally become so entangled with an obstruction, such as a power cord draped across a rug--that it becomes stuck and ceases to function until you manually free it. This is a rare event however it was frustrating since the X1 does not have an "stuck status" alert in its app.

Another possible issue is the X1 Omni's inability to automatically change between vacuuming and mopping modes during the cleaning process. You will have to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't that bad but the mopping pad isn't cleaned or dried between uses. This could lead to mildew and mold.

On the positive side it's worth noting that the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot, thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who conceptualized its modern, sleek base and mopping pad apparatus. It's a significant contrast to the basic black bases of rivals such as Roborock or iRobot. And automatic vacuum cleaner it's a welcome sight for the market that is dominated by boxy units.
