They are equipped with motors that are top-of-the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model) they utilize intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans that avoid obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also come with the feature of Carpet Boost that increases its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept in removing dog hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to get caught up in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a great option for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used while you are at work or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have self-emptying docks, however. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be replaced with an awe-inspiring one in a matter of just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as fluid navigation make it simple to clean and effective in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and provide cleaner and more efficient cleaning. It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With an elegant, best Robot hoover circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba rather than the compact models this mop and robot vacuum is among the most appealing looking in our reviews. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It has advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to the combination of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and boasts an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models, the X40 is easy to use, offering an easy mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's a noisy unit, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or at night as you attempt to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are similarly capable and better-looking. If you're willing to put up with a bit more noise and a little more cost this is a powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum and mop. It comes with a variety of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take the care of mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to create floorplans and identify obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however, it wasn't reliable in our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also comes with a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the house based on how dirty the areas are.

For larger houses it's worth looking for one with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a specific area of your home by using the app or via voice commands. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair mode is also useful. For families that are busy recharge functions and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be extremely useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than the price suggests. It does a stellar job vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using one pad and a reciprocating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the robot mop cleaners that we've tested. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or create a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app also provides access to many features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning robot mop and vacuum.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. And you can create a spot-clean that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like adorable eyes. It does a good job vacuuming, but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is louder than the other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
