Cyberpunk 2077 Item Upgrading Guide

Item upgrading is a key factor in maximizing the potential of your gear. It allows you to add additional stats to the value of your item's base level.

Each upgrade template comes with set options that can be set up via the GUI. These options include upgrading reference and chances of upgrading.

Upgrade components

As part of the 2.0 update, the method of upgrading armor and weapons in Cyberpunk has been reworked. Upgrade components are available throughout Night City, and the item that you want to upgrade must have an upgrade slot available. When you select an item to upgrade, the game will show a preview of what the expected stats will be following upgrading, and the component or material required. If you don't have the level or resource to upgrade an item the button will read "Blocked."

Weapons and armor can be upgraded as well as some trinkets and gathering tools. The upgrade slots on each of these items can be filled with different upgrades that give you bonus points or additional effects when the equipment is in use.
