WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boost in certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of the item by +3. A random additional substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade.

The more modernized gear generally has a greater value for trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or has a high stat variation (like Eth titan weapons). Upgrades are less valuable for those with higher variance because of the requirement to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. The item level Upgrade used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.

The cost of upgrading will be based on the current item upgrader kit level of the equipment being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than buying new equipment from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that are used to improve the quality of weapons and tools, armor and other accessories. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades to item upgrading owners in a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor with a button, which displays a preview of the item when it is upgraded if the player has sufficient materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the item level upgrade and the current level of the item and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers, for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. After an item upgrading has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currencies.

Many locations have upgraders for their items, including the main Island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrading increases when more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players finish certain achievements or quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items available in the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that can be used to upgrade require several methods, which is both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.

In Season 3, several new features were added to the upgrade system. After the player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This is even if those items come from another set of equipment.

The discount is applicable to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players reach certain achievement milestones.

Crests

Players have a variety of options when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

The first thing to remember is that the crests can only be purchased for equipment that is with a certain rank. Each rank comes with a different upgrade path. The simplest and easiest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade can require up to 20 crests, depending on the kind of equipment being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by completing content at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in all difficulty levels to obtain equipment of lower tier or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons that have a high difficulty for gear in the endgame. Crests can be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.

The new currency system isn't complicated to use, but it does bring some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, once an item reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change lets players upgrade their gear to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests wisely, as they are only used for one purpose. It is best to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment that you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is especially true for items like rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to benefit from the account-wide discount if all of the slots are filled with high-quality gear.
