Its 8,000pa suction motor makes short work of picking up dirt, droppings, and pet hair. Carpet detection automatically increases power when it detects rugs and the double side brushes help to clean debris from corners.

The mopping performance is less impressive, though not by a lot. The mop's rotating mechanism spins fast and utilizes 2.2lbs to remove dirt and stains. I've also noticed that the front arms extend out slightly more than other robots, which can be helpful to maneuver around tight corners and on baseboards. The same front arms can also be used to pick up larger debris like broken toys and books.

Another good thing is that the S1 Pro is one of the quietest robot vacuums and mop I've ever tried. It doesn't produce the same volume of sound when mopping or vacuuming, and is quieter than the Narwal Freo X Ultra or RoboRock S7. The only issue is that the S1 Pro must use a specific cleaning solution to perform mopping, and is sold separately from the vacuum. It's easy to install and is effective, but this is something you'll have to be aware of if you're buying this robot vacuums that mop vacuum solely for the purpose of mopping.

The X1 Omni is the most expensive robotic vacuum that is able to mop in our review, but it has some distinct features that are worth taking into consideration. The X1 Omni's biggest draw is its enormous dock that doubles as a charging base and housing for two 4 liter water tanks, a cleaning sink, and the 2.5-liter dust bin that is automatically emptys.

The base also comes with a set of control buttons that allow you to manually start cleaning or recall the robot or start the dock's auto-emptying process. Press two buttons to toggle the child lock. This is a wonderful feature for parents worried about their kids messing around with the vacuum.

The X1 Omni like other robotic vacuums uses its camera to spot obstacles and furniture in its path. It will avoid them. Its True Mapping 2.0 navigation system can map your home 10 times faster than standard laser detection systems and is four times more accurate at recognising objects.

The X1 can be prone to become stuck if it gets caught in an obstacle like a power cable tangled over a rug. It won't work until you remove it manually. While it was not common but it was a very frustrating experience when it did happen particularly since the X1 Omni does not come with an "stuck" status alert on its app.

The X1 Omni is unable to automatically switch from mopping to vacuuming mode during cleaning. You will need to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't too bad apart from the fact that mopping pads aren't cleaned and dried between uses, which can lead to mildew or mold.

On the bright side the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot, thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who dreamed up its sleek, modern-looking base and mopping pad apparatus. It's a huge contrast to the basic black bases of rivals like Roborock or iRobot. And it's a welcome sight for the market that is dominated by boxes.
