1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO and its sibling, the i3 EVO are both identical robots, but they differ in that the i3+ comes with self-emptying features. This makes the i3+ an excellent option for those who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but aren't afraid of having to empty their dust bin manually when it fills up.

Both robots are adept at cleaning up surface debris from hard floors and carpets, and they're very adept at moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates intelligent maps of your home that aid the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ does not have obstacle avoidance capabilities like the i7+ or any other top rated robot Vacuum-rated robots that we test. It can get stuck on power cords and socks and have trouble moving between different surfaces like rug and hardwood.

iRobot recommends you clear out areas that the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, which includes clearing out any toys or clutter it may come across. Also, keep the dustbin and filters free of dirt to prevent them from becoming clogged. When the i3+'s internal bin is full or its battery is depleted it will return to its docking station, automatically empties its trash into the station's external dustbin and continues cleaning where it started. The i3+ EVO's batteries last for approximately an hour and a half of continuous use, and takes around three hours to recharge.

2. IRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line, and it comes with the most recent features. It's self-charging, self-navigating and the most important feature of all -- it comes with an auto-emptying dustbin, which eliminates one of the main sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba I7+ is able to map rooms more efficiently with Imprint smart robot vacuums Mapping. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and control your robot with voice or through the app.

In our tests the i7+ performed more agile and faster than our top choice, the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surfaces types including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin, which eliminates the main sources of maintenance and reduces recurring cost.

We were also amazed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning session and to move around the room and sweep the area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and easy with the iRobot Home app. After connecting to these services, we were able communicate with the i7+ using voice commands like "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and monitoring the performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world of cordless vacs that look like minivans or buses, this tiny Dyson model feels like an old-fashioned sports car. It's powerful and has features to replace a stand-up vacuum for many households however, it can also fit in well next to a coffee table or on shelves where you can wave it around like an enchanted wand.

The V10 is powered with a Lithium-ion battery with 7 cells of energy, which produces power without fading for 60 minutes. The sophisticated whole-machine filter system captures allergens, and then releases cleaner air into your home. Its cleaning head is specially designed and drives stiff nylon bristles deep into carpet to collect large crumbs and fine dust. It has three suction modes that can be adjusted to the task. It quickly converts from handheld to floor vacuum and back again.

This model comes with a dock which charges the Dyson to 100% in 3.5 hours. It also gives the ability to connect two attachments and a Wand. This is a significant improvement over previous Dysons which require a long charge and are difficult to store.

The main issue with the V10 is its limited run time. The claims of its marketing that it can last up to 60 minutes of run time are not true as CR's tests have shown. This is a typical, not exceptional, battery-powered cordless vacuum's running time. It's still enough time to best automatic vacuum the majority of a typical-sized home however, it's not enough to get every single area (though a second run-through usually can be effective). This model has its own advantages however: it's light and more mobile than previous Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeably superior for carpet floors with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

One of iRobot's most popular robot vacuums The 694 is an entry-level model that's a good option for those who don't want to invest too much money on a robot. It's capable of sucking up most debris types and sizes during our tests, and often goes over the same areas multiple times to give a thorough clean. Its flat front side helps it to reach into corners and along the walls' edges, which is a nice touch.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt technology to stay clear of obstacles and help you navigate your home. It's not equipped with the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, like our top picks, the i3+EVO and the j7+ Series. Because of this, it is sometimes stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't in good condition, and often runs out of battery power before returning to its home base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways to the Roomba 694, as it has less parts that require regular cleaning, comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower recurring cost and has more advanced automation abilities and is able to better move its own. It also has a larger dustbin and can charge faster.

The eufy RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 in most purposes, as it has a better battery life, the ability to change its suction power mode on its own and comes with physical boundary strips, and is operated by your phone's voice assistant. It is also more durable and has a stronger motor, and works better on both bare floors and carpets with a low pile, as well as offering a wider range of automation options.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a household name in the field of home electronics. It's no surprise that they are also among the top manufacturers of robot vacuums and mop. Their Jet Bot AI+ is loaded with cutting-edge onboard intelligence technology to aid in navigation and obstacles avoidance.

The app gives you plenty of options to customize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers mopping water levels, behavior customization docking frequency settings and much more. The app is easy to use and understand similar to other Samsung devices.

In our testing our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and handled dog hair (on carpet) very well, picking up 86 percent of it. However, it wasn't particularly well with larger objects, like cords and socks, which was disappointing. It's also a bit more expensive than the other models we've tested which could be a deal-breaker for some buyers.

The smart robot vacuum has an onboard camera that can be accessed through the app. You can also set up a live streaming from the robot's cleaning station. This feature lets you keep track of your pets or the kids if you're away from home. The dustbin and filter can be cleaned for quick, painless cleanup. The Jet Bot AI+ also comes with a clean station that self-empties to keep the robot's dustbin clean and optimizes suction power for each cleaning.

6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum

Unlike other robotic vacuums, which are designed for both carpets and hard floors, Black and Decker robots are designed specifically for hard floors. They have an extra-wide cleaning path and dust bins that are 2X larger than the competition. This lets them clean the area for a longer period of time. Additionally, they come with two side sweepers to clean along edges and in corners. The POWERSERIES model also comes with AutoSense, which automatically adjusts the power level based on whether it is cleaning up surface dirt or embedded dirt. It also has a smart app that lets you view the virtual map and manage functions and schedules. You can also monitor the status of the vacuum and then send it to its dock for charging at the click of a button. The app also lets you to personalize the LED lights on the top of the vacuum with different colors so you can clearly see what areas it's focusing on or where it's stuck.

The app also makes it simple to manually steer the robot in the event of need. My living room rug, for example is darkly colored that could cause trouble for other robots. The HRV 425BL however continued to travel across the border without ever registering the high point. And the ability to program weekly cleaning robots for home schedules is a fantastic time-saving feature.
