That makes the i3+ an excellent option for those looking for an entirely automated vacuum cleaner, hands-free cleaning experience but don't mind having to empty their dust bin manually when it is full.

Both robots are proficient at removing surface dirt on hard floors and carpets, and they can easily move around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes a smart maps of your home that assist the i3+ to navigate and clean efficiently. However unlike the i7+ or other top-rated robots we tested the i3+ doesn't have a feature for avoiding obstacles and therefore it could be stuck on things like socks or power cords, and it may have trouble traversing transitions across surfaces like hardwood to carpet.

iRobot recommends you clear out areas that the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, including clearing out any clutter or toys it might encounter. It is also recommended to keep the filters and dust bin clear to avoid getting blocked. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or its battery is empty it goes back to its docking station, automatically empties its debris into the station's dust bin and continues cleaning where it left off. The i3+ EVO's batteries last for about an hour and a half of continuous use. It takes about three hours to recharge.

2. IRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model of the flagship line from iRobot and comes with all the latest features. It is self-charging and self-navigating, but the most important feature is its self-emptying bin. This eliminates the need for regular maintenance.

The Roomba I7+ can map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and control your robot using voice or via the app.

The i7+ is faster and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also cleaned large pet hair pieces from all surfaces, including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy, is its self-emptying dustbin that eliminates a major source of maintenance and lowers the cost of maintenance.

We were also impressed by the i7+’s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot on how to start, stop, or pause cleaning sessions as well as move around the room, and vacuum a particular area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. We were able, once connected, to speak commands to the i7+, such as "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and evaluating the performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world of cordless vacs that look like minivans or buses, this small Dyson model feels like an automobile. It is powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, but it is also compact enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered with seven cells of energy-dense Lithium-ion batteries, which produces energy that lasts for 60 minutes. The sophisticated whole-machine filter system is able to trap allergens and then releases cleaner air into your home. The specially designed head utilizes stiff nylon bristles to penetrate into carpets and pick up large particles or fine dust. It has three suction modes that can be adjusted to the specific task. It quickly switches from handheld vacuum to floor vacuum and back again.

The model comes with an attached dock that charges the Dyson to 100% within 3.5 hours. It also gives the ability to connect two attachments as well as a wand. This is a huge improvement over the older Dysons models, which take a long time to charge and are a pain to store.

The main drawback of the V10 is its short run time. Its marketing claims that it can last up to 60 minutes of run time are not true, as CR's testing shows. One of iRobot's most adored robot vacuums the 694 is an affordable model that's an excellent option for those who don't want to invest too much money on a robot. It was able to pick up the majority of types of debris and sizes in our tests, and frequently went over the same area multiple times to give an efficient clean. Its flat front design allows it to reach the corners and the edges of walls.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate your home, but it's not equipped with the mapping capability of more advanced models like our top choices and the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. It can get stuck on phone cords or low furniture and is often unable to supply power before returning to its home base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects, as it has fewer components that need regular cleaning, is fitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower recurring costs, has more advanced automation capabilities and is more efficient in maneuvering itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and is charged faster.

The sleek RoboVac X8 has a superior battery longevity than the Roomba 694. It also has physical boundaries and can be controlled with the voice assistant on your smartphone. It is also more durable, has a more powerful motor, and is able to perform better on both bare floors and low-pile carpet, while offering a wider range of automation options.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a household name in home electronics. It's not surprising, then, that they are also among the top producers of robot vacuums and mop. Jet Bot AI+ has the most advanced onboard technology to navigate and avoid obstacles.

The app provides a range of options for customizing your robotic cleaner. This includes virtual barriers, mopping levels and behavior customizations docking frequency settings, and more. It's simple to comprehend and easy to use, just as is the case with other Samsung devices.

In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86% of it. However, it did not do particularly well in avoiding higher-up objects like cords or socks which was a disappointment. It's priced higher than other models we've tested, and this could be a deterrent for certain shoppers.
