WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you boosts in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases item level by +3. Each upgrade also increases the random substatus.

Upgraded gear generally sees greater value for trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variance (like eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the requirement to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the Best item upgrader is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create the enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader once every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.

The cost of upgrading will be based on the current item level of the gear being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items which can be used to improve the quality of weapons and tools, armor and other accessories. They can be purchased from NPCs of item upgraders for various currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor. button, which will show an Best item upgrade's preview at its next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item level upgrade [listen to this podcast] and current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than bracers or gloves, for example. Another notable modification is that crests have one use and it's crucial to use them wisely. For instance it's a good idea to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the Best item upgrade equipment available and then save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan on making. This is especially relevant for trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to benefit from the account-wide discount if all slots are filled with top-quality gear.
