Robots That Vacuum and Mop

Robots that mop and vacuum offer the convenience of removing dry debris (dust, dirt) and wet mess (spills or staining) in one time without the need to change devices. They can also help save space when compared to two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot will provide excellent navigation and obstacles avoidance. Look for models that automatically empty their bins and refill their water tank, and wash their mopping pads from an appropriate dock.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It's one of the simplest robots to install that we've tested. Unpacking is simple, and the quick-start guide will have you up and running in no time with a full dust bag, water tank, and a hard floor.

The S1 Pro is a powerful little machine that cleans up a mess and is a great vacuum cleaner too. Its mops spin at high speeds and exert 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, allowing for quick removal of pet hair, dirt, and dried sticky spills. The vacuum cleaner comes with four power settings, a range of brushes and attachments, and an intuitive app which lets you choose the kind of cleaning you'd like to do for each room.

For example, you can decide to let the robot take care of a thorough clean-up in the living and kitchen but go easy on the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors as well as smart navigation technology. It is able to recognize small obstacles that other models are unable to. The only problem is that the robot is known to smash into objects and walls at full speed. However an inspection of the history of cleaning in the app will tell you exactly what the robot done, where it is moving, and what obstacles he has run into or avoided.

A convenient LCD screen on the docking station informs you when maintenance jobs are required, such as emptying the debris tray and washing the water tank that is dirty. It's also able to mix detergent automatically into the water tank using a 600ml bottle of eufy's own solution.

Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop come with plenty of running time and the mop is capable of operating for 184 minutes in Quiet mode, and the vacuum can last for 136 minutes in normal mode, before needing to recharge or return to the base to replenish. You can also view the entire cleaning information in the app, which is clearly laid out and easy to understand however we would like to be able to differentiate between a vacuum and a vacuum/mop clean when examining a cleaned area in the history of cleaning.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the most recent version of the company's flagship robot mop and vacuum. It's not like the model from last year, this one features an agitator that doubles in its mopping pad which significantly enhances its carpet cleaning capabilities. The S8 Pro Ultra has an enhanced suction power that allows it to pull up smaller hairs as well as other debris other robotic cleaners may miss.

As with the two other Roborock models I've tested, this one has reactive 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology that helps it avoid furniture, walls and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and includes two cameras that can recognize objects, and determine if they are walls or other surfaces. It can then automatically change its path and clean around the objects without a pause.

This is the most expensive of the three models I've examined, however, it's also the most packed with features. Its sleek, angular design is attractive and it has just three physical buttons which include the power button which also resumes cleaning; a mop-only button that doubles as a child lock and a home button that can return the robot to its dock. The hinged lid opens up to reveal a 350ml trash bin and 200ml of water tank. The water tank is self-emptying and the bin is auto vacuum and mop-filling.

The only negative I found with this model is that the VibraRise mop pad mount is not removable. You can change the mopping cloth if required, but it's not easy to take the mount off for washing manually. I've noticed that any carpet that the robot crosses will be in contact with the rough Velcro like fastener system on the mounts, which could cause abrasions.

The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a range of smart features that include support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. You can set up and manage these using the Roborock app that is also home to its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app allows you to schedule cleanings and track the battery's lifespan. You'll need to jump through a series of steps to activate voice control on this model. It's a shame, considering the performance otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 is an industry-leading robot vacuum and mop with outstanding suction power, advanced mowing capabilities, and a variety of innovative features. Its smart design allows you to personalize and efficiently clean while saving time.

The X40 is the first robotic vacuum cleaner to provide 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which makes it one of the most effective alternatives available. This powerful vacuum removes dry mess, including pet hair and dust. It also has a high-quality mop that leaves floors spotlessly clean, even without a wet pad. In addition the X40 is very quiet during its operation, with only occasional squeaks of sound when switching between modes or when completing self-maintenance tasks.

Another noteworthy characteristic is the X40's extendable and liftable side brush which allows it to get into difficult-to-access corners and clean curved furniture like table and chairs' legs. It also allows the robot cleaner to access low-profile furniture, making it a great choice for small apartments and condominiums with small spaces. The side brush also automatically swivels downwards when it detects wet spots. This is a nice addition that helps the X40 keep floors safe from damage caused by the frequent back-and-forth movement.

In contrast to other robots that solely focus on one task, the X40 is capable of performing both vacuuming and mopping simultaneously or separately. It can also be programmed to avoid areas that have carpet and only mop hard floors, and reverse the process. It can be controlled through the Dreame app or by using Alexa, Siri, and Google Home to ensure a smooth voice-controlled operation.

The app is easy to use and understand and the X40 comes with a variety of smart features that are easy to install. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times. It can also be adjusted to adjust suction power, alter modes, view floor plans and maps, and manage mopping setting. The X40 can also monitor its progress and inform you when it's finished.

The X40 is easy to maintain and comes with many convenient features, making it an ideal option for busy families. The docking station will automatically empty the dustbin, and clean the mop pads and refill them with cleaning solution and fresh water. It can also detect when the mop pad is full and notify you when it overflows, reducing the need for manual maintenance.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot that's among the most expensive on the market and comes with numerous additional features that set it apart. The mops come with a brand new feature called Smart DuoScrub that makes use of two mops with high-speed motors to scrub floors more thoroughly than the standard method, and has an impressive suction power of 7,000Pa. This is much higher than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni, and it can vacuum up pet hair and other small dirt particles - in addition to removing spills and wet spots.

The mop is also dried and cleaned inside the base station after every use. This is a great feature as it stops the build-up of mould and unpleasant odours in the storage area, and it also makes mop systems more efficient. This is a feature we've yet to see on other robot vacuums and mop models and could be a great way of keeping your home hygienic for longer.

There are plenty of options, including the option to schedule cleanings and adjust preferences. The app allows you to define these preferences, or utilize the buttons on the device itself. The app is easy to use and offers a variety of options to customize your cleaning routine. It also comes with a number of features that aren't offered on other robots, for instance the Clean Genius Mode, which automatically increases suction when it detects any dust particles.

The L20 Ultra is also one of the most fashionable robots we've seen in the market, with a white and metallic design that is elegant and stylish. It is a little heavier at 4kg than some of the other robots on this list but it's not too heavy. It is solid and well-built. The mopping design is also excellent and the double-rotating mop is great for hard floors and in corners. The MopExtend feature allows them to extend up to 2mm below the baseboards.
