Robots That Vacuum and Mop

Robots that mop and vacuum offer the convenience of cleaning dry debris (dust dirt) and wet mess (spills, stains) in one session without having to swap out devices. They can also reduce space in comparison to two separate units, particularly in smaller living areas.

A good combination bot will have excellent navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models with docks that let them automatically empty their bins, replenish their water tanks, and wash the mopping pads.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It's among the easiest robots to set up that we've tested. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and an easy-to-follow guide will have you up and running with a clean, full dust bag, hard floor solution and water tank in no time at all.

The S1 Pro is a powerful little machine that mops up a storm and vacuums well too. The mops spin at a high rate and employ 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to get rid of pet hair, dirt and sticky dried spills. The vacuum cleaner comes with four power settings, a range of brushes and attachments, and an intuitive app which lets you select the type of cleaning you'd like to do for each room.

You could, for instance ask the robot to clean the kitchen and the living room thoroughly, but leave the bedroom to itself. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors and smart navigation technology. It can detect small obstacles that other models are unable to. The only issue it has is that it can smash into walls and other objects at full speed - but an instant glance at the history of cleaning in the app tells you exactly what it's doing and where it's headed, and which obstacles it's avoided.

The docking station features an LCD display that indicates the time when maintenance is required, such as emptying debris and washing the water tank that is dirty. It's also capable of mixing detergent automatically into the water tank using a 600ml bottle of Eufy's own solution.

Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop have plenty of run-time, with the mop able to operate for up to 184 minutes in quiet mode, while the vacuum is can last for 136 minutes in normal mode before needing to recharge or return to the base to replenish. And you can see the complete cleaning details within the app, which is intuitively laid out and is easy to comprehend although we would like to be able to distinguish between a mop only vacuum and mop and vacuum clean when looking at a cleaned area in the history of cleaning.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the most recent version of the company's most popular robot mop and vacuum. The model this year has an agitator that doubles as its mopping pad. This improves the cleaning capabilities of carpets with this model. The S8 Pro Ultra also has an improved suction capacity, allowing it to pull up small hairs and other debris that other robotic cleaners may be unable to pick up.

Like the two other Roborock models I've tested it also has a 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology to help to avoid furniture, walls and other obstacles. But the S8 Pro Ultra takes things one step further by adding a dual camera which can recognize objects and determine whether they're an object that is a wall or a different surface. It then can alter its path automatically and clean around the objects without stumbling.

It's the most expensive model I've tried however it also comes with the most features. Its sleek angular design is striking, and it only has three physical buttons. The power button, which restarts the cleaning mop button, which doubles as a child lock, and a home-button to bring the robot vacuums best to its dock. The hinged lid can be opened to reveal a 350ml dustbin as well as a 200ml of water tank. The water tank is automatically filled and the bin automatically refills.

The only negative I found with this model is that the VibraRise mop pad mount isn't movable. While you can replace the mopping cloth (if needed) but it's a challenge to remove the mount itself for manual washing. I've noticed that any plush carpet that the robot touches will be in contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener mechanism on the mount, and that can cause scratches.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart capabilities which include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can configure and manage these using the Roborock app, which is also home to its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app allows you to schedule cleanings, track the life of batteries and maintenance on components. But you'll need to jump through a few hurdles to enable voice control with this model which is a pity considering the performance of this model.

3. Dreame X40

It can be controlled using the Dreame App or Alexa, Siri, or Google Home to ensure that voice-controlled operations are smooth and easy.

The app is easy to use and intuitive, and the X40 is equipped with many clever features that are easy to configure. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, adjust suction power and mode, view mapping and floor plans, and manage mopping settings. The X40 will also track its progress, and alert you when it is finished.

The X40 is easy to maintain and comes with many features which make it a good option for busy families. The docking station can automatically empty the dustbin and wash mop pads before refilling them with cleaning solution and fresh water. It can also detect if the mop pad is at its maximum capacity and alert you to the situation prior to it bursting.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models on the market. However, it has many characteristics that make it stand out. Its mops have a new feature called Smart DuoScrub. This utilizes two mops that are high-speed to clean floors more thoroughly than the standard method, and has a high maximum suction power of 7,000Pa. This is higher than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra and Ecovacs Deebots T20 Omni. It can also remove pet hair, dirt particles and remove spills and dirty spots.

The mops are also cleaned and dried inside the base station after every use. This is beneficial because it stops mould and unpleasant odours that can build up in the storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. This is an option we haven't seen before on other robot mop and vacuum models. It could be a great way to keep your home clean longer.

There are plenty of options, including the option to schedule cleaning times and adjust preferences. These can be set via the app, or via buttons that can be found on the unit itself. The app is easy to use and provides a variety of options to customize the cleaning routine, and there are a lot of features that other robots don't include, for instance, the Clean Genius mode that automatically increases suction power when it detects dust particles, instead of using an individual setting.

The L20 Ultra is also one of the most elegant robots we've seen in the market, with metallic and white colors that looks elegant and classy. It's a bit heavier than the other two-in-one robots in this list - at around 4kg however it's not overly heavy either, and it is sturdy and well-built. Mopping is also well-designed, and the double rotating mop works well on hard floors as well as in corners. The MopExtend feature allows them to extend up to 2mm below the baseboards.
