World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can increase the value of armors, weapons and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as crit chance and PvE Damage.

For instance a weapon that has the upgrade template ending in % will take on 3damage to attack each time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the item level rises.

Components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, weapons and armor in order to give them a boost in stats or add a bonus effect. These can be obtained through crafting, buying from vendors, trading or looting. Certain upgrades have unique cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components are only available to equipment that has a slot. The item must be at least upgraded to blue level before a component can be used. Upgrade components, unlike other mods can only be applied only once. They cannot be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and enrichments are a specific type of upgrade component used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment, as well as some of the non-ascended back items. Infusions and enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment that is ascended or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade could include a suffix or prefix changing the name of the item to the upgrade (for examplefor example "Canthan Armor Insignia" becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity of an item upgrader, allowing players to create stronger versions using fewer Upgrade crystals than they require to achieve the same level using standard methods.

A 'boost' upgrade can alter the attack or defence characteristics of the weapon or armor. These upgrades can be made using the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene, and defeats the Crazed Mechanical. They can also be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear or purchasing them from the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.

The player can have the maximum of five boost upgrades at one time. Each upgrade increases the likelihood that a higher-tier version of the item will be available during the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to keep upgrading their gear even if they're uncertain of how much they'll increase after a future reset.

The process of upgrading an item could be expensive, and it is possible that the item will eventually become obsolete or even break when the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed when the upgrade fails. This is reduced by the availability of cash shop items that can double or even eliminate chance of failure, and some upgrades that provide a bonus when reinserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade parts that can be inserted into special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs boost the power of all nodes in the area around them as well as existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways. We suggest upgrading them as soon as you can to level 15.

It is commonplace to see in the endgame that placing Glyphs is a great method to upgrade your gear. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded directly to level 15 and provide significant boosts to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to climb higher nodes much faster.

Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced however, Glyphs are only the one upgrade component that can be removed and replaced without restriction. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and rebuilt with a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you choose it in your inventory. You can replace it with an Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.

You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of a Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain unlimited-use gathering tools, and through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the many Glyphs, and there are also a few rare glyphs to be obtained as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

After you have acquired the desired Glyphs you'll require them to be placed on your gear. Each Glyph will unlock a unique bonus that boosts the stats of a specific set of nodes within a radius around the Glyph. Depending on the Glyph the bonus will be +40 to one of your primary stats or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

Glyphs boost all nodes that are connected to them, therefore it is Best item upgrader to put Glyphs in strategic spots on the Graph. This will increase the impact. Druids for instance should position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They might also want to consider placing them near their critical damage nodes.

Leveling

The item upgrading system allows players to improve the performance of specific items by putting upgraded components into them. This is commonly known as "upping". Each upgradeable item is assigned a level that determines the final stats. Upgraded items may be leveled to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each level requires a different amount of components and the costs for upgrading increase as the item gets advanced in level.

Some upgrades require a special ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or on the upgrade tab in the crafting table. Each completed Upgrade Recipe yields a number of Technology Points. These points can be used for the upgrading of an item. When enough points have been earned you'll be able to claim the upgrade and get its extra bonuses.

When a player upgrades an item to a higher level, the original item is replaced by a new Item Upgrader Kit of the same kind. The same armor will receive the form of a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item upgrader kit comes with its own set bonus. This could be a disadvantage since the item may become more expensive even if you don't need it.

If the player has enough tokens they can roll the upgrade of their item. The item will be replaced by the same item, but it has a level 1 basis and completely different bonuses. This is useful for certain items, however it's not something that should be performed frequently, since it can use up many resources.

Some upgrades can increase their value and allow players to modify their gear. An excellent example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an advantage when a player is repeatedly in and out of the water (or is able to swim like dolphins). It is possible to upgrade it several times, each time increasing the max roll by an increment of 10. This item is extremely valuable in PvP, as a perfectly rolled version of it could be worth between 20 and 50x its non-upp'd value.

Requirements

The ability to upgrade items allows players to increase the level of their equippable gear--armor, weapons and trinkets above ilvl 385--by providing the appropriate items and currency to an NPC that upgrades items. Upgrades to armor set pieces also boost the defense base of the Best item upgrade, and upgrading weapon equipment will increase the damage base and the strength and dexterity required to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements.

All items can be upgraded up to five times, except for hero gear, which can be upgraded eight times. Every when you upgrade an item it has the chance to fail. The rate of failure increases as you exceed the maximum number of upgrades. Failures will cause the item to go to its original condition, which requires the user to pay more for materials than they would have to had they stopped upgrading at the maximum number of upgrades.

If an item is not upgraded the experience bar on its growth bar will reset to zero. In addition the item will lose any bonus it earned such as crit chance and attack damage, and all additional effects associated with that effect (for example, increased heal over time or the speed of reloading). However, the player can continue to use the weapon or armor after the failure.

When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied in order from lowest to highest. This means that the weapon that is upgraded increases its crit chance, the increase will be applied before any damage to attack increases. A new attribute known as Slots has been added to the item definition and the value is calculated every time an upgrade is applied.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item level upgrade is determined on the rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium items is equal to the base value of the upgrade. For instance, a standard equipment item could have five upgrades, each costing 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero quality items will have a much lower cost for each upgrade.

Premium items may have different upgrade requirements from standard gear. For instance, they may need less sowels, but they will require more minerals and orons. Whatever the case, players will have to visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade costs mentioned above, each upgrade requires the use of different ingredients needed to upgrade.
