World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses like PvE damage and crit chance.

For example an item with the upgrade template that ends in % will suffer 3damage to attack each time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

Components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, weapons and armor to give them a stat boost or add a bonus effect. They can be obtained through crafting, purchasing from vendors or trading with other players or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components are only available to devices that have slots. The item must be at least upgraded to blue level before a component can be applied. Unlike other mods, upgrade components can only be used once and can't be used multiple times or replaced by new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a particular kind of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet ascended or legendary equipment, as well as some of the items that are not ascending back. Infusions and enrichments are recovered by salvaging ascended gear or by completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

A suffix or prefix can be added to an upgrade, changing the name of the item it's applied to (for instance, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' becomes Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, which lets players to create stronger versions of the item using the smallest amount of upgrade crystals than they require to reach the same level using standard methods.

A boost upgrade is a way to alter the attack or defense properties of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades can be crafted from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene, and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. They can be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear or by buying them from the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals.

The player can have the maximum of five boost upgrades at a time; each upgrade increases the chance that a higher-tier version of the item will drop at the time of the next reset. This gives players a reason to upgrade their gear, even in the event that they don't know how much it will be improved after a reset.

The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process can be costly and there is a significant possibility that the item will be obsolete or even break when it fails; a failure to upgrade can ruin Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item. This is alleviated by the availability cash shop items to double or even eliminate chance of failure, and some upgrades that provide a bonus when reinserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade components that can be inserted into special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs increase the power of nodes within a radius, and include any existing affixes. Glyphs can be upgraded in numerous ways. We recommend upgrading them as quickly as you can to level 15.

It is commonplace to see in the endgame that putting Glyphs is a great way to upgrade your gear. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded to level 15 and give significant boosts to your power on the Paragon Board.

Glyphs, the sole upgrade component that can be removed without restriction and replaced with no restrictions, are the most common. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and rebuilt using the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you choose it in your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph with the same rank, or a higher rank, which will boost the value of the glyph.

Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of the Gem Store bundle or purchase, with certain unlimited-use tools, and during Faction Crypt Raids. Every Faction Crypt could drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs you'll need them to be placed on your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus that boosts a particular set of stat nodes within a radius around the Glyph. Depending on the Glyph it could be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

Utilizing a Glyph will boost all nodes connected to it, and you should aim to place your Glyphs close to key nodes on the Graph to maximise the impact. For instance that a Druid should try to position their Glyphs near their primary damage points, but also be sure to place them near the most critical damage nodes, too.

Leveling

The item upgrade system allows players to boost the stats of specific items by adding upgraded components. This is also known as "upping". Every upgradeable Best item upgrader has a level, which determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be leveled until they reach a maximum level of 385 ilvl. Each item level requires a different amount of components to reach and the costs for upgrading increase as the item is advanced in level.

Certain upgrades require a certain ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by making Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or bought from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe completed yields a certain number of Technology points. These points can be used to upgrading an item. Once enough points are earned you'll be able to claim your upgrade and receive its additional bonuses.

When a player improves a piece of equipment the original item will be replaced with an item that is new. This means that the same armor piece will get a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item also has its own set bonus. This could be a disadvantage since the item may be more expensive even if you do not need it.

Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled if the player has enough reroll tokens to do this. The item will be replaced with the same item, but it has a base of level 1 and totally different bonuses. This is useful for certain items, but it shouldn't be performed frequently, since it can use up lots of resources.

Some upgrades can increase their value and allow players to personalize their gear. One example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives a buff when the player repeatedly enters and leaves the water (or does not swim as dolphins). This can be upgraded several times, each time raising the max roll by an increment of 10. This item is extremely valuable in PvP as the Best item upgrader version of it can be worth between 20 and 50 times its value without being upgraded.

Requirements

Item upgrading allows players to boost the quality of their equippable equipment--armor, weapons, and trinkets above ilvl 385--by providing the appropriate currency and items to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also increase its base defense and weapon upgrades items increase the damage they deal as well as their strength and dexterity.

Each item can be upgraded a maximum of five times, with the exception of hero gear which can be upgraded up to eight times. Each time you upgrade an object it has a chance of failing. The probability of failure increases when you exceed the maximum number. Failures will result in the item returning to its initial state which means that the player has to spend additional materials than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum number.

If an item is not upgraded, the experience bar in its growth bar will be reset to zero. The item will also lose any bonuses it has gained, such as the chance to crit attack damage, other effects (such as increased heal over time or reloading speed). However, the user can continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.

When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from the lowest to highest. This means that the weapon that is upgraded gains a crit chance increase it will be applied prior to any damage to attack increases. A new attribute called Slots has been added to the item definition and the value is recomputed each time an upgrade is made.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating and number of upgrade slots. The upgrade cost for non-premium items is the same as the base value of the upgrade. For instance, a standard equipment item might have 5 upgrades with a cost of 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero grade items will have the lowest cost for each additional upgrade.

Premium items have different requirements for upgrading than standard gear--for instance, they might require fewer sowels, but more minerals and erons. Regardless, the player must visit the NPC [Armorthe ] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade costs mentioned above, each upgrade requires an individual amount of upgrade ingredients.
