WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of the item level upgrade by +3. A random additional substat is also added to each upgrade.

The more modernized gear generally has a more value in trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variation (like the eth titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item used for the upgrade will remain in use for a long time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your equipment. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader every several weeks.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current item level of the gear being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new gear from other sources. For example upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item upgrader mod from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items that can be used to upgrade weapons tools, armor, and other accessories. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners in a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor. button, which will display an item's preview at its next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the item slot, and the current item level. For example weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain amount, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

Upgraders for items can be found in many places, including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon and the possibility of obtaining an entirely new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players finish certain achievements or quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no upgrader for items at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades are acquired via a variety of means which is both an improvement but also a drawback.

Crests

Players can earn crests by finishing content at the appropriate level, which involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons of any difficulty for higher-tier items or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for gear that is used in the endgame. These crests are then exchanged with an upgrader for the item like Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item level upgrade in the proper steps and paths.

Utilizing these new currencies isn't that difficult however, the system introduces some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This change allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another significant change is that crests have one purpose, so it's important to use them properly. It's best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the best gear you can locate, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly relevant for rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character, which can only be eligible to take advantage of the account-wide discount if all slots are filled with top-quality equipment.
