Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

Item upgrade items, also called "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment increases a stat linearly.

Players can recycle up to six items at once to gain a level gauge for each of the item's upgraded components. The cost of recycling a piece of equipment increases depending on their rarity and level.

Upgrade components

An upgrade for an item in Guild Wars 2 is a process that can boost the effectiveness of your weapon and armor. This can be accomplished in a variety of ways such as using upgrade components or increasing the rarity or mark level. A lot of items can be reforged in order to increase their stats.

These rerolled items are able to be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button which alters the layout of the item window and allows up to six items to be selected to recycle. The level gauge is increased by recycling an item. This amount is determined by the rarity of the item and its level. Therefore, items that are higher level are more valuable for recycling than those with lower levels.

Players have complained that the reroll system is too expensive. Leveling
