However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to become stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a good value for those whose home or office has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save some money. Additionally, it's quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or going to school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. If you want to change the mopping pad for a dry one in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a sleek, compact package. This robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba model than the bulky units of the competition. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to use. It has a simple mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in the mornings before work, or during the night when you are trying to fall asleep.

And it's highly self-sufficient with a fully-featured app as well as a self-emptying, washable base.
