I've also noticed that the front arms extend out a bit more than other robots, which is helpful to get into tight corners and along baseboards. The same front arms can also be employed to clean larger objects, such as broken toys and fallen books.

Another nice feature is that the S1 Pro is one of the most quiet robot vacuums and mops I've ever used. It doesn't produce as loud of a sound while vacuuming or mopping and is much quieter than the Narwal Freo X Ultra or RoboRock S7. The only drawback is that the S1 Pro must use a proprietary cleaning solution for mopping and is separate from the vacuum. It is simple to install and works well. However should you purchase this robot vacuum solely for mopping purposes you must be aware of this.

The X1 Omni is the most expensive robot vacuum that mops in our review, however it comes with some unique features that are worth a look. The X1 Omni's main draw is its huge dock, which serves as the robot's charging base and the housing for two water tanks, a cleaning sink and the 2.5-liter dust bin that is automatically empties.

The base comes with a few control buttons that let you manually start cleaning tasks, recall the robot cleaner with mop or run the dock's automatic emptying procedure. Press two buttons to switch off the child lock. This is a wonderful feature for parents who are worried about their children messing around with the vacuum.

The X1 Omni like other robotic vacuums, uses its camera to detect furniture and obstacles in its path. It will steer clear of them. Its True Mapping 2.0 navigation system will map your home 10 times faster than conventional laser detection systems and is four times more accurate in recognising objects.

Unfortunately, this means that the X1 Omni can occasionally get caught up in an obstacle--such as the power cord that is draped across a rug that it becomes stuck and stops working until you free it. Although this is not a common occurrence but it was a very frustrating experience when it happened particularly since the X1 Omni does not have an "stuck" status alert on its application.

Another potential downside is one of the biggest drawbacks is X1 Omni's inability to automatically change between vacuuming and mopping modes during cleaning. You will need to manually switch between the two, which isn't too bad except for the fact that the mopping pads aren't cleaned and dried between uses, which can lead to mildew or mold.

The X1 Omni looks great, thanks to the Jacob Jensen design team (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who designed its sleek, modern base and mopping pad. It's a significant departure from the utilitarian, all-black bases used by competitors like Roborock and iRobot and a pleasing appearance in a market which is dominated by clunky boxy models.
