The main object of the invention is to offer a shielded flat cable which permits reduction in area between the conductors, enchancment in shielding capacity, and cost savings. The present flat cable does not need connection windows in the prior art which make it difficult to reduce the area between the conductors. The decrease cover layer movie 4B in the second embodiment does not necessarily lengthen full width of the bottom movie 3. It is sufficient for the lower cowl layer film 4B to extend continuous size or discrete lengths in order to electrically insulate the upper floor of the circuit conductors 1. Such modifications or modifications fall throughout the scope of the present invention. A pair of shield tapes 5 of a conductive steel foil are hooked up to the outer surfaces of the cover layer film four and base movie, respectively, in order to shield the cable. In order to realize the above object, the invention offers a versatile, shielded flat cable having a fundamental development which contains a base movie, a plurality of strips of circuit conductor Juxtaposed on the bottom film, a strip of floor conductor arranged in parallel with the strips of circuit conductor, a cowl layer movie attached to the strips of circuit conductor and floor conductor, and a shield tape of a conductive steel foil, made for example of aluminum, copper or the like, extending over the cover layer movie, the ground conductor being conductively related to the shield tape, wherein the cover layer movie is of a double layered construction comprised of an upper cover layer film having an space supplied with no upper layer film therein, and a decrease cover layer movie, and wherein the ground conductor is uncovered, through the area supplied with no higher layer movie, to the shield tape so as to be connected with the shield tape.

In response to the primary embodiment of the invention, the cowl layer movie is comprised of a decrease cowl layer movie and an higher cover layer movie. In keeping with the second embodiment of the invention, the lower cowl layer movie is comprised of two layers of cowl layer movies solely disposed in areas by which the ground conductor is electrically linked to the shield tape. This invention pertains to shielded flat cables in the form of a versatile strip together with conductors and films hooked up to the conductors within the higher and lower surfaces thereof. A ground conductor is disposed between the lower and higher cowl layer films. With the secondly mentioned shielded flat cable in prior artwork, the ground conductor, 2 exposed exteriorly alongside the size thereof, may be directly connected to the shield tape 5. Thus, the "less workability", "limitation within the house between the conductors", and "less reliability in electrical connection", due to the presence of the connection home windows 6, talked about above may be eliminated. Reliability in electrical connection between the bottom conductors and the shield tape will not be adequate, since such electrical connection is made by way of soldering materials filled within the above area.

Thus, the circuit conductors and the bottom conductor may be electrically insulated relative each other by means of the decrease cowl layer movie. A shielded flat cable according to a second embodiment is characterized by a construction whereby the lower cowl layer film of a predetermined size is placed over the bottom film at a predetermined location thereof in order to electrically insulate the upper surface of the circuit conductors, the circuit conductors being provided in the higher surface of the base movie, the bottom conductor is disposed on the lower cover layer film, the ground conductor being arranged in parallel with the circuit conductors, and the upper cover layer movie is placed over the bottom movie in an area together with the higher surfaces of the bottom conductor and the decrease cowl layer film in order to kind a cable physique, whereby an space having no higher cover layer film is offered which extends alongside the intermediate portion of the lower cowl layer film and transversely of the cable body, wherein the shield tape is hooked up to the surface of the cable physique together with the area having no higher cowl layer film so as to shield the cable body, and wherein the ground conductor and the shield tape is conductively connected with each other via the realm having no upper cowl layer movie.

The ground conductor and the shield tape may be electrically related with each other by means of the area having no higher cowl layer movie, without using connection home windows within the prior art. The ground conductors 2, disposed in parallel with and alternately with the circuit conductors 1, are extended over the lower cover layer film 4B and the realm of the base film 3 at which no lower cover layer movie 4B is supplied (see FIG. 6B). The upper cover layer movie 4A is adhesively connected to the higher surface of the ground conductors 2 and the higher surface of the base movie 3, together with the higher floor of the decrease cowl layer film 4B (see FIG. 6C). Thus, the base movie three and cover layer films 4A, 4B types a cable 8 with the conductors being sandwiched between the bottom film and the cover layer movies. The cable body 8 features a connection half 7 by way of which the ground conductors 2 are to be conductively connected with the shield tape 5. Specifically, the connection half 7 may be decided as an space of a predetermined width extending transversely of the cable physique 8 through which no upper cover layer film 4A is provided, as shown in FIG. 3C. The shield tapes 5, 5 are hooked up to the higher surface, including the area of the connection part 7, and the lower floor of the cable physique 8, respectively.
