Inject the blade of a screwdriver or pry bar tool into this slot and gently pry open the rear of the fob for the key. After you have opened the fob, you can locate and remove the CR 2032 3V battery. Replace the battery, then snap the fob.

Note: Certain older Volvo models use an entirely different type of battery, the CR2025. CR2025 batteries have the thickness of 7/10ths one millimeter less than CR2032, so you'll need to be extra cautious when replacing your battery.
