The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the most recent version of Roborock's most popular robot vacuum and mop, is the newest version. The model this year has a double agitator built into its mopping pad. However, the S8 Pro Ultra takes things an extra step by having a dual camera that can detect objects and determine whether they're an object that is a wall or a different surface. It then can automatically alter its path and clean around the objects without a pause.

This is the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed, but it's also the most loaded with features. Its sleek, angular design is striking and comes with three buttons that are physically accessible. The power button, which restarts the cleaning mop function, a button for cleaning that doubles as a child lock and a home-button that can bring the robot to its dock. The hinged lid opens up to reveal a 350ml trash bin and 200ml of water tank. The water tank will empty itself and the bin is auto-refilling.

The only downside I found in this model was the VibraRise mop pads mount isn't movable. It is possible to replace the mopping cloth if required, but it's a challenge to take the mount off to wash it manually. I've observed that any soft carpet the robot crosses will be in contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, and could cause scratches.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a variety of smart features, including support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. The Roborock app is where you can manage and set up these smart features. It also has maps and advanced mopping options. The app also lets you to schedule cleanings and monitor the life of batteries and maintenance on components. You'll need to jump through a few steps to enable voice control on this model. This is a shame considering how well-performing it is otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

It is a little heavier at 4kg than the other robots on this listing however it's not a lot of weight. It feels solid and well-constructed. Mopping is also well-designed and the double-rotating mop works well on hard floors and in corners. They can even extend to 2mm of baseboards due to the MopExtend feature which is a nice touch.
