WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boost in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of the item by +3. A random extra substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as valuable for those with higher variance due to the requirement to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities, and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your gear. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks.

The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current level of the equipment being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For example upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points, purchasing a similar piece from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items that are used to level up weapons and tools, armor and other accessories. Players can purchase them through NPCs who sell upgrades to item upgrading owners for a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will display the item's next upgrade level, when there are enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and the current item level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers, for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain amount and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currencies.

Many locations have upgraders for their items which include the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon as well as the chance to obtain an entirely new recipe. The discount for upgrades increases depending on the amount of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or complete quests.

In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items in the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only available through a variety means. This is both a positive and a disadvantage.

In Season 3, the upgrade system was altered a bit, with several new features added. When a player has an upgrade to a particular level for an Item Level upgrade items (Yxhsm.Net) in an armor slot, upgrading further items to that level will cost less, even when they are part of a different gear set.

The discount applies to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain achievement milestones.

Crests

Players have a number of options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an important element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests are only able to be used to purchase equipment of a particular rank, and that every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The most basic and straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complicated can require as much as 20 crests depending on the kind of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through completing content of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons of any difficulty for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons for endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader for the item like Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item level upgrade in the proper steps and paths.

The new currency system isn't difficult to use, however it brings some modifications to the upgrade process. For example, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is intended to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest level possible on all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests with care, since they are only used for one purpose. For instance it's a good idea to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests with the Best item upgrader gear you have available and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan to make.
