Some have great mapping capabilities and obstacle avoidance. Others even wash and refill mopping pads themselves for a hands-free clean.

The Eufy S1 Pro

This is the model you should choose if you want an automatic vacuum cleaner and mop vacuum cleaner that can also mop. It's smaller than other models on this list, making it easier to maneuver into tight corners and underneath furniture. It has a 220-degree lidar that combined with its 3D Matrix camera system gives it the best navigation and object avoidance that I've ever seen in a robot vacuum cleaner vacuum. It comes with a massive 4600mAh battery that lasts for up to 170-minutes if mopping and suction are set to standard mode (it is able to run longer in turbo). It can even return to its dock to recharge its battery during the cleaning.

It's fast and does a fantastic job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It vacuums carpeted rooms extremely quickly and the hardwood floors in the living room, and hallways in one go. The suction motor's 8,000pa is quick at picking up dirt, crumbs and pet hair. Carpet detection increases power automatically when it comes into contact with rugs, and the dual side brushes help draw out dirt from corners.

The mopping performance, while still impressive, is not as effective. The mop rotates at a high speed and is pushed down with 2.2lbs of force, effortlessly scraping away dirt and stains. I've noticed that the front arm protrudes out a bit more than other robots that vacuum and mop. This is useful when you're trying to get into narrow corners or on baseboards. The same front arms can also be used to sweep up larger debris, like broken toys and books.

The S1 Pro is also one of the quietest robot mop and vacuums I've used. It is quieter and doesn't create more noise when vacuuming or mopping. The only drawback is that the S1 Pro must use a proprietary cleaning solution for mopping and is sold separately from the vacuum. It is easy to set up and works well. However, if you are buying this autonomous vacuum solely for mopping, you will need to be aware of this.

The Roborock Q Revo

The Q Revo stands apart from the majority of robot vacuums that mop in its class. It is a powerful cleaning machine with a variety of features.

The device is equipped with a powerful cleaning system that incorporates LiDAR sensor technology and an RGB camera. This enables it to map out the house, detect furniture and other obstacles. It then uses this information to clean effectively and effectively. This ensures an even and thorough clean, while also being relatively quick.

For instance the brushroll needs to be replaced after 300 hours or every six to twelve months. The filter should be cleaned after 150 hrs, and the mop pads should be changed every one to three month.

The robot has two modules: a combined dry bin and water reservoir and a separate mopping module with a microfiber pad that snaps into and out of the way. It's a bit old-fashioned to have separate modules for vacuuming and mopping however it does mean that you don't have to fret about changing out disposable bags or refilling the tank with water.

Our test subjects found that the Matrix Plus did a great job at both vacuuming and mopping. Its greatest feature was its accurate floorplan which it uses to determine an outline for cleaning. The Matrix Plus was able to navigate through rugs, furniture and other obstacles. The app lets you create 'No-Go Zones' and virtual barriers to prevent certain areas from being cleaned by a mop.

The Matrix Plus also did a remarkable job at picking up hair from pets. It was able to capture many of the hair our cats shed, and even got into some of the nooks and crannies on our stairs, where other robots had struggled. The noise levels of the robot were low, and there were some nice jingles to signal that it was in the process of working towards its goal.

Its biggest drawbacks were its simplistic app and the requirement to swap between the modules to switch between mopping and vacuuming. The app can't save multiple maps. This can be an issue if your home has several floors. The Matrix Plus is a good choice for people who want an intelligent robot that can do both vacuuming and mopping.

The Yiko X1 Omni

The X1 Omni is the most expensive robot vacuum that mops; Blogs.cornell.edu, in our test, but it has some distinct features that are worth a look. The X1 Omni's main draw is its huge dock, which doubles as a charging base and housing for two water tanks, a clean sink as well as the 2.5-liter dust bin that is automatically eliminates.

The base also comes with a set of control buttons that allow you to manually start cleaning and then recall the robot or use the dock's automatic vacuum and mop emptying process. Hold down two of the buttons to toggle a child lock that is a great feature for parents who are worried about kids tinkering with the vacuum.

The Omni Omni like other robotic vacuums, utilizes its camera to identify furniture and obstacles in its path. It will steer clear of them. Its True Mapping 2.0 navigation system can map your home 10 times faster than standard laser detection systems and is four times more precise in recognising objects.

Unfortunately, this means that the X1 Omni will occasionally get caught up in an obstruction, such as a power cord draped across a rug, that it gets stuck and ceases to function until you remove it manually. This was a rare occurrence, but frustrating nonetheless, because the X1 doesn't have a "stuck status" alert on its application.

Another possible issue is the X1 Omni's inability to automatically switch between mopping and vacuuming modes during cleaning. You'll have to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't that bad however, the mopping pad isn't washed or dried between uses. This could lead to mildew and mold.

On the positive side it's worth noting that the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who conceptualized its modern, sleek base and mopping pad. It's a big change from the utilitarian black bases of competitors like Roborock and iRobot and a pleasing view in a market that is dominated by bulky boxy models.
