And, like other premium iRobot models (including the top pick) they utilize smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans that avoid home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also have Carpet Boost, a feature that boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on bare floors They are also adept in removing dog hair. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's therefore prone to get stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of an area.

It's still a great deal for those whose office or home has lots of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and you can use it when you're at work or at school. The only thing it doesn't have that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective in mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on for long and don't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with an auto-emptying dock, however. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be replaced with a wet one in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient in taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also features strong suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app lets you modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to pull back and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross contamination. Its flex arm is great to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. 3. iRobot Roomba X40

The robot vacuum that mops vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular look that looks more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy models from the competitors. It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to the combination of modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully self-refill and empty its base station and it has an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an easy mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's still quite a noisy unit that could be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work or at night as you attempt to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however, it's more expensive and make more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features that let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and refills the water tank, and cleans and dry mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of a combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles, and navigates more effectively than some of its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.

Its vacuum has a high suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and also adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on the amount of dirt they are.

For larger homes it's worth looking for a model with spot or zone cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one particular area of your house using the app or voice commands. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have lot furniture. For families with busy schedules, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum cleaners best vacuum to continue from where it left off can be very useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than the price suggests. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It's also self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping, which gathers information on your floorplan and any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or set up a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to rank your most filthy areas to improve performance. The app also grants access to many options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It has an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. It also has the ability to set up a spot cleaning that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes.
