As with the two other Roborock models I've tried it also has a 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology which helps to avoid furniture, walls and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and incorporates two cameras that can recognize objects, and determine if they're walls or other surfaces. It then can alter its direction automatically and clean around them without stumbling.

It's the most expensive model I've tried and it comes with the most features. Its sleek, angular style is attractive and it has only three physical buttons: the power button, that also resumes cleaning; a mop-only switch that doubles as a child lock; and a home button that can return the robot to its dock. Lifting the hinged lid reveals 350ml of dust bin and 200ml water tank. The water tank self-empties and the bin is auto-filling.

The only issue I encountered with this model was that the VibraRise mop pads mount isn't removable. Although you can change the mopping cloth (if needed), it's a pain to remove the mount to wash manually. I've observed that any carpet that the robot crosses will be in contact with the rough Velcro like fastener system on the mount, which can cause scratches.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a variety of smart features, including support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. The Roborock app lets you manage and set up these smart features. It also contains maps and advanced mopping options. The app also allows you to schedule cleanings, monitor the battery life and maintain your components.
