What is an Item Upgrader in Pokemon Go?

The upgrader for items adds a new widget to the top of the Angel and Cash Upgrade windows. This Manager costs 33 billion Angel Investors and offers no gameplay benefit aside from making it easier to view and buy upgrades.

Boosters

Costs

Upgrades come with some associated costs. The most significant cost is the upgrade itself. This price is contingent on the item's new ilvl and the amount of perks it will gain, and can be expensive. Upgrades to a higher level (such as Explorer to Champion or Veteran to Heroic) are costly.

The other is the cost of the materials required to upgrade. These are typically Power Dices (dropped from monsters 21+), Minerals and Erons, or specific Mists of Pandaria or Warlords Of Draenor Quests. The amount of these items required is available in the inventory of an upgrade vendor.

Success Rate

Upgrades to items are based on the chance of success, and as with every random system, there's a chance that the upgrade will fail. However there are some things that can increase the odds of success. This includes using an item called an Upgrade Pity or the addition of extra items to the upgrade.

The Upgrade Pity is available from the NPC for smithing in Lost Ark. It increases the chances of an upgrade's success by an amount. It is similar to the luck bonus that some items come with however it is more reliable. It can be added to any weapon or armor and can be used up to three times.

You can also add other materials to the upgrade to increase its chances of success. These are displayed in a separate window, above the + button. There are a few limitations. The maximum amount of material you can add is displayed directly above the + button.

A Blacksmith Blessing or an upgraded version thereof, can be used to increase the odds of a successful upgrade. This item is beneficial when you own an Best Item Upgrade of gear that has reached the highest level for its tier, or is close to it. This item upgrades allows you to upgrade the equipment to the next tier without risking its breaking.

If an upgrade fails, the system will be restored to its initial state. This is typically a break, but it could also be an upgrade. Keep an upgrade in reserve until you are nearing the maximum level of an item.

There are many items in the Kafra shop that can be used to boost the likelihood of a successful upgrade. For instance upgrading an equipment using HD Oridecon or HD Elunium multiple times will give you an increased chance of success. Also, increasing the chances to receive a Double Mint from Shoe-Minting a maximum of five times will also improve the chances of success.

Failure Rate
