Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The ability to upgrade items allows players to enhance their weapons and gear with new affixes, increasing its base stats or providing additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item upgrade in their inventory and have access to the kiln.

Typically items that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base while objects with strong bases, such as eth titans aren't affected significantly in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons, trinkets, and gathering tools. They can be used as an attribute bonus, or an additional benefit, while the equipment is in use. They can be bought from vendors, or found in loot, thrown away by enemies or received as a reward from missions or chests. Certain upgrades also have cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a specific level to upgrade.

To upgrade the quality of a weapon, armor or other item in the game, players will need to select it and then click the Upgrade button in the toolbar. The preview will appear on the right side of the screen, showing what the expected upgrade statistics will be, as well as the required material or component needed to complete the upgrade.

There are three kinds of upgrade components including universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which comprise gems, are able to be used in any type of equipment, and offer lower bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions, which can only be placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment, are the same as gems, but offer higher bonuses and cannot be used in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades that can be put in gathering tools, will add their name to the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for instance adding the word Glyph to a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would make it a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

In the case of upgrades for gathering tools, if a player replaces one glyph with another the previous glyph will be returned to the inventory. If you replace another upgrade component, it will be destroyed, except for the inscriptions that can be freely swapped.

Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important changes from earlier versions. Gear is now divided into tracks and items can be upgraded a specific number of times before being "leveled out." The upgrade costs increase with each level, however the materials required do not. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a couple of important items to maximize their impact, instead of spreading upgrade costs across several items.

If an item is completed and is leveled out, it will be able to receive an upgrade set of components, and a boost in the chance that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is known as Artisan’s Energy and it resets to 0 if an upgrade fails or increases when the upgrade succeeds.

When a piece is upgraded to its highest level, it can receive affixes to boost its attributes. The number of affixes that are available will depend on the item's base. For instance an uncommon or rare weapon with a base that is normal will only have two affixes to choose from, while legendary armors will have up to eight affixes available for it.

Each upgrade will require the use of a certain amount of Flightstones and crests depending on the current level of the item and the slot it's in. Typically, weapons require more Flightstones to upgrade than other kinds of equipment.

If an item doesn't attain its maximum level, the NPC offers players the option to transfer it to a different character and re-infuse the item with a new set or upgrades. This process takes up to two hours and will cost the same amount of material, though it will have less chance of success.

To determine the height of a structure engineers employ a level to compare the measurement to a known reference point like a benchmark or the elevation of the ground. This method is known as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings using the backsight rod and level before turning the level to make the foresight rod reading. This method ensures that the buildings are constructed with the highest degree of precision and safety.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is a crucial part of the game that can increase the strength, damage or other attributes. It is possible to do this through the menu for items, or by pressing the Reroll button when you upgrade an item. Rerolling an item can be costly and should be used sparingly.

The game allows players to recycle upgraded items, which are used to obtain Reroll tokens. These tokens can be used to upgrade either the original Best item upgrader or another similar item. Recyclable items have a gauge that shows the level of upgrade. The rarity and cost of upgrading an item will determine the amount of level that has been filled.

In the past, some upgrade items had priority affixes that made them easier to roll for than others. This meant that you'd receive the most crucial stats for your build more frequently than other items. This included stats like armor's total armour, thorns, and control impaired duration reduced stats or the weapons' bonus attack speed and strike chance.

This changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same odds of rolling for each stat. This can be either good or bad, based on what you're looking to get from your equipment.

Each upgraded item can also be equipped with a special bonus that increases the power of the item by a fixed percentage or flat value. These bonuses are added to regular affixes. The more you improve an item, the greater chances of obtaining a unique bonus.

The game also includes several sets, which give a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are installed on a unit. This is a great method to add lots of power to a character without spending a lot of money.

Many players reroll their weapons and gear particularly in the initial stages. Rerolling can help you create a more powerful character quicker, which enables you to advance in the game and achieve higher levels.

Sets

Sets are collections of elements that can be put together in a variety of ways. They can have various sizes, contain no elements at all or have a single element. They can be used to organize data or separating information. They can also be used for analyzing patterns. Sets can be classified in a variety of ways in terms of size and shape.

To see if an item level upgrade is worth upgrading, players can click the Upgrade button on the screen for their character. The item upgrades will be displayed with its attributes, along with the items needed to upgrade it. To upgrade the No-mouth face for instance, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, as well as 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Alternately, players can go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to check the requirements for upgrading specific items.

In general, armor and weapons are more valuable when they are fully updated. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons with weapons-damage or spell glyphs. This will result in a significant increase in their stats. This will also boost the defense value of armor with a newer appearance.
