The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on bare floors, and they are particularly adept in cleaning dog hair. There are some issues, however, that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to become stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with an image sensor that lets it see the corners of a room.

However, it's a good choice for those who want to save money on a iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and can work while you're at work or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. If you want to, you can swap the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features strong suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot vacuum that mops robot vacuum for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors that help it stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen before on other robot vacuum cleaners uk vacuum/mop combination.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With an elegant circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competition's boxes This mop and robot vacuums best vacuum is one of the most attractive designs in our tests. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's still quite loud, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or in the evening as you attempt to sleep.

Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take charge of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to create floorplans and identify obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time hazard detection, although this wasn't quite 100% foolproof during our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to the amount of dirt they are.

If you own a larger home, it is worth selecting a model with a spot or zone cleaning mode. This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your home needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. A stairway mode is useful if you own a number of furniture. Also a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you might expect from its price tag. It's a pro at vacuuming, picking up 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad that has an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through a mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, set up an area for cleaning or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to ensure better performance. The app has a range of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It has an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean an area.
