The best robot automatic hoover can auto vacuum and mop and mop without needing your attention, and will leave your floors clean. Its low cost and top-of-the-line functions (such as a dirt detectors) are a plus.

Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model) they employ smart mapping to create detailed floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also have carpet boost, a feature that boosts the robot's performance when it spots the presence of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned up quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests of floors with no carpet They are also adept in cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have a few flaws, however, that prevent them from being our first choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a good value, especially if your home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and you can use it when you're at work or school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle, however. If you're required to mop, the mopping pad can be swapped for one that is wet in just a few minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as quick navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also has a powerful suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robotic automatic hoover for carpets, but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

This top-performing mop and vacuum combo uses advanced sensor technology to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste, and it also learns your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. You can alter the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones through the well-designed app. Its battery life is average compared to similar models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to take off and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross contamination. Its flex arm is ideal for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could complete the task of cleaning a whole home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a good cleaning job on a variety of rooms and floors with various flooring types, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was superb and it was able to avoid fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With a sleek circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competitors' boxes this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. The latest model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It features advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our evaluations, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely self-refill and empty its base station and it has an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models like the X40 is easy to use, offering an easy mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work or during the night when you are trying to sleep.

It's also a bit costly, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing to live some more volume and some additional cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will delight most.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection, although this wasn't quite foolproof in our testing and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner comes with an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and also adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home depending on the degree of dirt they tend to be.

For bigger homes, it's worth opting for a model that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a specific area of your home using the app or voice controls. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have lot furniture. Finally a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue where it left off is great for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than its price suggests. It is a good vacuum cleaner, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which cleans better than most of the other robot vacuum reviews mop cleaners we've tried. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through a mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, set up an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance. The app also gives access to a host of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot cleaning that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It's good at vacuuming but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robotic vacuums we've examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
