A bedside cots crib (also known as a bassinet) is located near your bed to allow you to be able to tend to your baby during feedings at night and nappy changes without needing to get out of bed. They are also great for creating independence as your child grows more comfortable in their own space to sleep.

The Joie Roomie Glide

The Joie Roomie Glide crib is a crib that can be placed at the wooden bedside cot, allowing parents to sleep with their newborn while ensuring they are resting safely. Its smooth gliding motion helps to lull your baby back to sleep, and its ingenuous features let you keep an eye on them without leaving your bed.

The cot's sliding side panel raises and lowers at the press of an button, making it a breeze to reach in and soothe a crying baby at night. It also comes with 11 height adjustments that let it fit the mattress of almost any size bed and it comes with adjustable feet that fold down to ensure that it is at the right level.

In terms of safety the cot is cushioned and has mesh sides to provide more airflow, and the mattress is made from high-density foam for additional protection. It's also washable, so you can keep the cot clean. It includes a fitted bed sheet that can be used for the crib.

In contrast to other cribs for bedside use unlike other cribs for bedside cot newborn use, the Roomie Glide is suitable for all beds, including divans due to its straps and clip attachment. It can also be used as a standalone crib when it's not connected to your bed and it's full of amazing features that are designed with parent-baby bonding in mind.

The most important thing to keep in mind is that while this crib is great for babies, it won't last long once your child is six months old, so you'll have to purchase a bigger cot. But, in general Roanna felt that the Joie Roomie Glide was a very good purchase and she particularly liked its elegant design.

John Lewis sells the Roomie Glide for PS160. Roanna thought this was a fair price for such a cot. She also liked the way it was positioned in the bedroom and thought that the grey color would suit most modern homes. She did mention that it's not a good idea to rock a baby in the early years because it can cause an unfavourable sleep pattern for later.

The Tutti Bambini CoZee

The Tutti Bambini CoZee is an award-winning crib for bed designed with a safe night's sleep in mind. It has a drop-side rail that is easily lowered to feed your baby at night without having to disturb your baby or get up - it's ideal for breastfeeding mothers! It's also light, making it easy to move around the house during nap time and for travelling.

We love that it's constructed of soft fabrics with breathable mesh sides that promote airflow and comfort. It comes in charcoal or oak and various melange fabrics that will blend with a variety of styles. Anna found it to be solid and secure when it was attached to her bed. The legs clicked into place and the zippers were secured to ensure safety. It took Anna about 10 minutes to put together and did not require any tools. There are clear instructions as well as a video, and a customer support number if you have any problems.

Alongside the usual features you'd expect from a bedside baby bed crib such as the ability to attach to your bed using a stay-in-place connection system and six height levels, the CoZee has an additional incline option which can be used to alleviate reflux or congestion in babies. It's also machine washable, a necessity with all the dribble and vomit that come with having a newborn!

The CoZee is a great option for keeping your child close during the first six months of acquiring the ability to sleep independently. It can be used as a cot bedside, changing station and toddler bed. With the addition of a sofa-bed extension pack, it can transform into an actual crib. While it won't magically make your baby sleep or feed them, it can rock them and send them off.

The Chicco Next2Me Magic

This is one of Chicco’s more expensive alternatives. However, it has numerous excellent features. It's designed to be used as a side sleeper or standalone crib and is suitable from birth to six months. It features a brand new mechanism to open and close the side panel, and is simple to use even with one hand. It's also more flexible than its predecessor, with 11 different height levels and feet that retract to fit under any bed.

Our testers appreciated the ease of access provided by the side panel that can be moved up and downwards with just one click of a switch. This was particularly useful in the evening when feeding time was over, since they could reach inside and pick their baby up without waking them.

It is possible to lower the side panel by itself, but this isn't recommended, as it increases the risk that your baby will be thrown out of the cot. The patented safety locking system makes sure that the side panel will remain in place when it is attached correctly to the parent's mattress. This is a wonderful feature to have for peace of mind, particularly in the case of breastfeeding and frequent nighttime feedings.

Telescopic legs allow the Chicco Next2Me Magic to be used with any bed, including divan bases as well as beds with drawers. It also has tilting functions to help babies who are refluxy and a rocking feature to soothe them back to sleep after eating. It's also very spacious and offers excellent ventilation thanks to its mesh sides.

The Next2Me Magic was easy to use and set up for our testers, even with the lengthy instruction manual. It's a bit heavier than some of the other side-sleepers, however it's very portable and can be moved from room room easily. It's also small enough to fit in a travel bag when not in use, which is an advantage when you have to transport it. The only drawback our testers noticed was that the side panel did not flex as much as the other models, which made it a little harder to observe your child from your bed.

The Shnuggle Air

If you're looking for an ideal bedside crib that can develop with your child, then the Shnuggle Air is definitely worth looking into. It's designed to be a sleep-co-sleeping bassinet that is attached to your bed but also convert into a chic cot when your baby is ready, it's ideal for feeding at night and growing your bond with your infant.

The Shnuggle Air crib is designed to breathe, not like other cribs. Its dual-view mesh side panels and airflow mattress that is breathable and hypoallergenic increase airflow to keep your baby cool and comfortable. A gentle incline can help to ease colic and reflux while the zip down side makes it easy to feed or soothe your baby throughout the night.

The cot conversion kit is also well-designed with clear instructions. It includes everything you need. It took us around an hour to put together and was relatively simple. The only downside to the instructions was that certain images were not captioned. This made it difficult for us to follow the instructions. Overall, the procedure was easy and the materials used were of high quality.

The Shnuggle Air is a great option for women who are breastfeeding or have had a c-section. It allows them to reach out and hold their baby to comfort them and feeding without leaving their bed. It's also great for parents who wish to avoid the hassle of getting in and out of a traditional cot, or putting their baby down to sleep.

During our testing we noticed the smooth motion of this next to me crib to be extremely useful in helping babies fall asleep after feedings at night and midday. The drop-down sides make it easy to feed or soothe babies throughout the night. This was a huge selling point for our tired test mums. Although it doesn't rock, or have additional features such as an audio system the Joie Roomie Glide's elegant design and practicality make it a great addition to our top bedside crib reviews.
