What is an Item Upgrader in Pokemon Go?

Costs

Upgrades come with some associated costs. The first is the cost of performing the upgrade items. This cost can be expensive and is contingent on the new value of the item and the number perks it gains. It can also be expensive to upgrade item an item to a better tier (such as Explorer > Champion or Veteran > Heroic).

The second is the cost of the materials needed for an upgrade. These items are typically Power Dices (dropped from monsters 21+), Minerals and Erons or a specific Mists of Pandaria or Warlords of Draenor Quests. These items can be found in the inventory of an upgrade vendor.

It takes time to upgrade an item upgrader mod. It could take as long as 8 hours depending on the size of the upgrade. The base stats of the upgraded item are calculated based upon its new ilvl and other characteristics. This calculation determines new Armor Class bonuses, damage dice, and other vital statistics. In some cases an upgrade may grant additional benefits. These perks are listed in a list.

Rarely, the advantages obtained will cost more than one perk slot to acquire; in these situations the upgrade will replace the perks with the highest cost. The upgrader may also make other adjustments to the item, for example, changing the damage type of its weapon, or adding or eliminating an operational or unwieldy option. The cost for these modifications is based on the item's current ilvl and it may require a special substance like the adamantine alloy.

Success Rate

The process of upgrading an item is based on chance. Like any random system there is a chance that it will not succeed. There are a few methods to increase your odds of success. This includes using an Upgrade Pity, or the addition of extra materials to your upgrade.

An Upgrade Pity is a product you can purchase from the smithing NPC in Lost Ark. It increases the chances of an upgrade being successful by some percentage. This is similar to the luck bonus that some items come with, but is more reliable. It can be added to any armor or weapon and is able to be used up to three times.

You can also add additional materials to the upgrade to increase the chance of success. These materials are displayed in a window above the + button. There are a few limitations. The maximum amount of material you can upload is shown directly above the + button.

A Blacksmith Blessing or an upgraded version thereof can be used to increase the likelihood of a successful upgrade. This item is useful in the event that you have a weapon or piece of gear that has reached the highest level for its tier or is close to it.
