What is an Upgrade Item in Genshin Impact?

Upgrade items are special items that can aid certain Pokemon to evolve. They are made available by spinning Pokestop photo discs, and sometimes as rewards in events that are associated with evolution.

They can be incorporated into trinkets, armors and weapons and gathering tools to boost effects or stats. Certain upgrades also come with the appearance of a certain cosmetic when they are used.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be slotted into weapons, armor and trinkets to provide a bonus or an extra effect when the equipment is used. They can be purchased from vendors, looted or obtained as rewards, crafted or dropped. Upgrade components must be higher leveled than the item they are added to. Most require that the item have an upgrade slot. Upgrade components can be swapped out with other upgrade components, except for inscriptions or glyphs which can be added or removed freely.

Gems, infusions and enrichments are among the most commonly used upgrade components. Gems can be added to any kind of equipment and offer an inferior benefit than other upgrade components. Infusions and enrichments are distinct upgrade components that can be added to non-amulet ascended gear and other legendary equipment. They can be recovered from the equipment they're in by using an Upgrade Extraction Device, or by salvaging them with the Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage Tool.

Other upgrade items, like glyphs and inscriptions, can only be added to or removed from the gathering tools. They can offer a variety of bonuses, such as increasing the gather speed or bringing in more materials. Inscriptions can also alter the name of an item upgrading, such as changing a sword to be called 'Fiery Sword' by adding the Sword Pommel of Fortitude inscription, or by adding an Rune of Minor Vigor suffix to make it 'Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor'.

Glyphs

Glyphs symbolize a concept or idea using symbols in character. A glyph could be an icon or a drawing such as a flag or heart. These symbols can be used to create a complete visual language. Additionally, glyphs can have a standardized code that is used to reference it across fonts. This code is called a Unicode.

A glyph has a form that dictates the Primary Stats it can be added to and which Secondary Stats it is able to add. Some glyphs have both Primary Stats and Secondary Stats bonuses, while others have only one bonus. The glyphs with both Secondary and Primary Stats are added to the total stats of the unit, while glyphs with only a single Primary Stat bonus will increase the values of that stat.

Using glyphs is very easy. Simply hold and click on the text insertion to bring up the Glyphs Panel. Select the glyph you want to use. View All Glyphs lets you view the complete list of glyphs. The glyphs will be listed in order based on their Unicode code. Click on the one you want to add.

When you create the glyph set for the first time, it is saved with other InDesign preferences in an image file that can be shared. The glyphs aren't tied to any particular document and can be edited using Edit Glyphs Set from the Glyphs Panel menu. You can also specify whether the glyphs will be remembered by their fonts when you insert them into text.

It is recommended to begin farming rare glyphs as soon as you can. They are often found in World Tier 3 dungeons, Nightmare Dungeons, Helltides, and other endgame content. They are more accessible than the rare shards you can earn through crafting items and offer a better upgrade for your equipment. Moreover, the fact that they can be applied to a wide range of items means you can increase the strength and durability of your gear without spending too many shards.

Rerolling

Rerolling in Genshin Impact is a popular practice, as it increases the likelihood of players obtaining the most effective characters and weaponry. The process involves creating a brand new account and then claiming the pre-registration rewards or launch rewards, giving players a new opportunity to acquire random items.
