Robots that mop and vacuum offer the convenience of removing dry debris (dust, dirt) and wet messes (spills, stains) in one session without having to swap out devices. They can also save storage space compared to having two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot will provide excellent navigation and obstacles avoidance. Find models that automatically empty their bin and refill their water tank and machine-wash their mopping pads with an appropriate dock.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It's one of the simplest robots to install that we've tested. Unpacking is simple and the quick-start guide gets you up and running in no time with the complete dust bag, water tank, and a hard floor.

The S1 Pro is a powerful little machine that is able to clean up a storm and also vacuums well. The mops are spun at a high rate and employ 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to quickly remove dirt, pet hair and sticky dried spills. The vacuum cleaner comes with four power settings, as well as a selection of attachments and brushes and an intuitive app that lets you choose the kind of cleaning you want for each room.

For instance, you could decide to let the robot clean up the living and kitchen but be careful with the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors as well as smart navigation technology. It is able to recognize small obstacles that other models cannot. The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the latest version of the company's top robot vacuum and mop. The model of this year features two agitators built into its mopping pad. This increases the cleaning capabilities of carpets with this model. The S8 Pro Ultra has an improved suction power which allows it to remove finer hairs and other debris other robotic cleaners may miss.

This Roborock model, just like the other two I tried it has infrared and a reactive 3D obstacle avoidance technology to help it avoid obstacles such as walls, furniture, and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further by incorporating a dual-camera that can identify objects, determining if they are walls or other surfaces. It is able to change its course automatically and clean around the objects without missing a step.

It's the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed but it's also the most feature-packed. Its sleek and angular design is eye catching, and it only has three buttons that are physically accessible. The power button, which also restarts the cleaning mop function, a button for cleaning that doubles up as a child-lock and a home button to send the robot to its dock. The hinged lid opens to reveal a 350ml dustbin and 200ml tank of water. The water tank automatically emptys and the bin auto-refills.

The only downside I found in this model was the VibraRise mop pads mount isn't movable. While you can swap out the mopping cloth (if necessary), it's a pain to take off the mount itself to wash it manually. I've noticed that any carpet that the robot crosses will come into contact with the rough Velcro like fastener system on mount, which can cause scratches.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart features which include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. The Roborock app is where you can manage and configure these advanced features. It also has maps and advanced mopping options. The app allows you to schedule cleanings, monitor battery life and component maintenance. You'll need to go through a few steps to enable voice control on this model. It's a shame, considering how efficient it is otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 is an industry-leading robot cleaner vacuum and mop equipped with incredible suction power, sophisticated mowing capabilities, and ingenuity features. Its clever design permits customised and efficient cleaning while also saving time.

The side brush also automatically swivels downwards when it detects wet spots, which is a nice touch that helps the X40 keep floors safe from damage caused by the frequent back-and-forth movement.

In contrast to other robots that only focus on one thing, the X40 can do mopping and vacuuming at the same time or individually. It can also be programmed to eliminate areas with carpet and mop only hard floors, or vice versa. It can be controlled using the Dreame App or Alexa, Siri, or Google Home to ensure that voice-controlled operations are smooth and easy.

The app is intuitive and user-friendly and the X40's clever features are a breeze to install. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, adjust suction power and mode, view floor plans and mapping, and manage mopping settings. The X40 will also monitor its progress and notify you when it's done.

The X40 is easy to maintain and has numerous features that make it an excellent option for busy families. The docking station automatically empty the dustbin into a huge 3.2 L bin, cleans mop pads and refills them with clean water and cleaning solution. It can also tell when the mop pad is full and alert you before it overflows, thus reducing the necessity for manual maintenance.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra robot vacuum cleaners reviews is one of the most expensive models on the market. However, it has a number of characteristics that make it stand out. The mops are equipped with a new feature called Smart DuoScrub. This makes use of two mops with high-speed motors to clean floors more thoroughly than the standard method, and has the highest suction power of 7,000Pa. This is higher than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra and Ecovacs Deebots T20 Omni. It can also clean pet hair, small dirt particles and remove spills and dirt-stained spots.

The L20 Ultra is also one of the most elegant robots we've seen on the market, with a white and metallic design that is elegant and stylish. It is a little heavier at 4kg than some of the other robots on this list, but it's still not a lot of weight. It feels solid and well-constructed. The mopping is also well-designed, and the double rotating mop works well on hard floors as well as in corners. The MopExtend feature allows them to reach up to 2mm below baseboards.
