They do have some flaws however, which prevent them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of a room.

It's still a great deal particularly if your office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save money. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used while you're at work, or at school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does have self-emptying docks, however. If you're in need of it, the mopping pad can be swapped for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robotic mop and vacuum robot vacuum for carpets, though it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums it, something we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that appears like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxes this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive looking models in our reviews. The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It comes with advanced features, like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score an exemplary 10/10 in our tests due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is easy to use, offering an easy mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work, or at night when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive however, not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however it's more expensive and produce more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuums best vacuum and mop with a variety of sophisticated features that will let you get rid of your chores. Its vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and also adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home depending on how dirty they are.

For bigger homes it's recommended to choose a model with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean one specific area of your home by using the app or voice controls. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. For families with busy schedules, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be extremely useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than the price suggests. It does a stellar job vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've tried. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, plan the perfect spot for cleaning or sort out your rooms with the most dirt for better performance. The app has a range of features, such as seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. And you can create a spot-clean that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like adorable eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it's more likely to be stuck on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums that we've test. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive and has a tiny base station that does not double as a bin for emptying.
