Robots That Vacuum and Mop

Robots that clean and vacuum offer the convenience of cleaning both dry and wet messes in one go and without the need to switch devices. They can also save space compared to two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot will offer excellent navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models that have docks that let them automatically empty their bins, fill their water tanks and wash the mopping pads.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It's one of the simplest robots to install that we've tested. Unpacking is easy, and the quick-start guide can get you up and running in no time with an entire dust bag, water tank, and hard floor solution.

The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can mop and vacuum well. Its mops spin at high speeds and can apply 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, allowing for quick removal of pet hair, dirt, and dried sticky spills. The vacuum cleaner comes with four power settings, as well as a selection of attachments and brushes and an intuitive app that lets you select the type of cleaning you'd like for each room.

You can, for example, ask the robot to clean the kitchen and the living room thoroughly, but leave the spare bedroom alone. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors and smart navigation technology. It is able to recognize small obstacles that other models cannot. Its only drawback is that it can smash into walls and other objects at a high speed, but just a glance at the history of cleaning within the app will show you exactly what it's doing as well as where it's heading and the obstacles it's avoided.

The docking station comes with an LCD display that shows the need for maintenance like emptying the debris and cleaning the water tank that is dirty. It's also able to mix detergent automatically into the water tank by using a 600ml bottle filled with eufy's own solution.

Both the S1 Pro mop and vacuum come with a long-running time. The mop is able to run for 184 minutes in Quiet Mode and the vacuum can last 136 mins in normal mode, prior to needing recharging or returning to the base. You can view the entire cleaning information in the app, which is intuitively laid out and easy to understand, though we would like to be able to distinguish between a mop only vacuum and mop clean, when looking at a clean area in the cleaning history.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the most recent version of Roborock's most popular robot vacuums that mop vacuum and mop, is the newest version. It's not like the model from last year this one has a double agitator in its mopping pad which significantly improves its carpet cleaning abilities. The S8 Pro Ultra has an improved suction power that allows it to remove finer hairs and other debris other robotic cleaner and mop cleaners might miss.

This Roborock model, just like the other two I tried, has infrared and reactive 3D obstacle avoidance technology to help it avoid obstacles such as furniture, walls and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further by incorporating two cameras that can recognize objects, determining whether they are walls or other surfaces. It will then automatically alter its path and clean the objects without a pause.

It's the most expensive of the three models I've examined, but it's also feature-packed. Its sleek angular design is eye catching, and it only has three buttons that are physically accessible. The power button, which resumes the cleaning mop function, a button for cleaning that doubles up as a child-lock and a home-button that can take the robot to its dock. The hinged lid opens to reveal a 350ml dustbin and 200ml water tank. The water tank is self-emptying and the bin is auto-filling.

The only negative I discovered with this model was that its VibraRise mop pad mount is not removable. You can replace the mopping cloth if required, but it's a challenge to take the mount off for washing manually. I've noticed that any carpet that the robot vacuum reviews crosses will be in contact with the rough Velcro like fastener system on the mounts, which can cause abrasions.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart capabilities, including support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. The Roborock app allows you to manage and set up these advanced features. It also includes maps and advanced mopping options. The app also allows you to schedule cleanings, monitor the battery life and maintain your components. However, you'll need to jump through a few hoops to enable voice control with this model which is unfortunate considering the performance of this model.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 robot best automatic vacuum and mop is a market leader with innovative features, superior suction power, and advanced mowing capabilities. Its clever design permits customised and efficient cleaning while reducing time.

The X40 robot vacuum cleaner is the first one to provide 12,000 Pascals cleaning power. It is among the most powerful options available. This powerful vacuum can clear up pet hair as well as crumbs and other dry mess. It comes with a mop of high quality that cleans hard floors without using pads. The X40 is also very quiet when in operation with only occasional bursts during modes changes or self-maintenance.

The app is easy to use and understand, and the X40 is equipped with many clever features that are easy to configure. Users can program the X40 for cleaning at specific times. It is also possible to alter suction power, change modes, view maps and floor plans, and control mopping settings. The X40 can also track its progress and notify you when it's finished.

The X40 is easy-to-maintain and offers many convenient features, making it an ideal option for busy families. The docking station automatically cleans the dustbin and the mop pads, then refill them with cleaning solution and fresh water. It can also detect when the mop pad is filled and alert you before it overflows, thus reducing the necessity for manual maintenance.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot hoover that is among the most expensive available and comes with many extra features that set it apart. Smart DuoScrub is a brand new feature on its mops, uses two high-speed mop heads to scrub floors more thoroughly. It also has a maximum suction force of 7,000Pa. This is much higher than that of the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni and can vacuum up pet hair and small dirt particles - as well as picking up spills and wet spots.

The mop is cleaned and dried at the base station every time they are used. This is a fantastic feature as it stops the build-up of odours and mould in storage, and also makes the mop system more efficient. This is a system has yet to be seen on other robot vacuums and mop models and could be a useful way of keeping your home cleaner for longer.

There's an impressive amount of settings on offer that include the ability to schedule cleaning and alter a variety of preferences. They can be set through the app or there are direct buttons on the unit itself. The app is simple to use and has a lot of options for customising the cleaning process, and there are numerous functions that other robots don't include, for instance, the Clean Genius mode that automatically boosts suction power when it detects dust particles, rather than using an individual setting.

The L20 Ultra is also one of the most stylish robots we've seen in the market, sporting a white and metallic design that looks classy and sophisticated. It's heavier than the other two-in-one robots on this list - at 4kg - but it's not obscenely heavy, and it feels sturdy and well-built. The mopping is also well-designed, and the double rotating mop is great for hard floors and in corners. They can also extend to 2mm of baseboards due to the MopExtend feature which is a nice addition.
