The results revealed that CLKs were more likely to reject native Korean pragmatic norms, and their decisions were influenced by four major 프라그마틱 순위 factors: their identities, their multilingual identities, their ongoing lives, and their relational advantages. The results showed that CLKs on average, did not adhere to the pragmatic norms of native speakers in more than 40 percent of their responses. They did so even though they could create patterns that resembled native ones. They were aware of their practical resistance. They also referred to external factors such as relational benefits. They outlined, for instance how their relations with their professors enabled them to perform better in terms of the linguistic and cultural standards of their university.
However, the interviewees also expressed concern about the social pressures and punishments that they might be subject to if they violated their social norms. They were concerned that their local friends might perceive them as "foreigners" and believe that they are unintelligent. This concern was similar in nature to that expressed by Brown (2013) and Ishihara (2009).
These findings suggest that native-speaker pragmatic norms are no longer the default preference of Korean learners. They may still be a useful model for official Korean proficiency tests. But it is advisable for future researchers to reconsider their usefulness in particular situations and in different cultural contexts. This will help them better know how different cultures can affect the pragmatic behavior of students in the classroom and beyond.
