This sensor is located near the edges of the transmission, above the flywheel ring gear. It sends a message to the ECU via the grey wire T55/49 and then to the tachometer located on the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

Located on the edge of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear, the G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends a signal to ECU pin T55/49 via the grey wire. The ECU then uses this information to control fuel, timig and boost. It also sends a signal to the G5 tachometer inside the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to link the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu must know when the crankshaft reached TDC and also the position of the camshaft, in order to activate the spark and injectors.

I put tissue over each injector hole and when I start the engine without sparks, the 3 that have gazoline pop right out. The fourth one remains shut. I inspected the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55/30/55/48/55/14/55/48/ I got zero Ohm. I'm assuming that the issue is elsewhere.

I also tried to reset the PID but without success. The car is able to start when the G28 is not plugged in and it runs perfectly when it is plugged in however it is experiencing intermittent misfires at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62) even if it is not plugged in, shows temperatures of -49c. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars but the actual pressure is zero.

I don't know what to do. I feel like i've pretty much eliminated everything else. But i am afraid I may have missed something. Let me know should you have any suggestions! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 receives signals from the RPM sensor. The GM-style sender is the same as the G4 and both function in the 80, 100, 200, UrS and RS2 cars which is why you can easily locate one at a wrecking yard or at a parts store.
