The best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and will leave your floors clean. Its surprisingly affordable price and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

They have top-of-the-line motors that can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the top model) they utilize smart mapping to create detailed floorplans that avoid obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also have a feature called Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests of floors with no carpet They are also adept at cleaning hair from dogs. They do have some flaws however, which prevent them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of an area.

It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and can work while you're at work or going to school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle however. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be changed for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and effective at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, although it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This top-performing mop and vacuum combo uses advanced sensor technology to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste, and it learns the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and set up zones through the well-designed app. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire house, finishing with only 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a great job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms with various flooring types, such as certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was great and it was able to avoid fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically emptys into its base, and it supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

This mop and autonomous vacuum combination is sleek and has a circular design that looks much like a Roomba model than the bulky models of the competitors. It's among our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot vacuum cleaners uk that is able to wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 in our evaluations due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully self-refill and empty its base station, and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with an intuitive mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device, which can be an issue if you use it in the morning before work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.

It's also a bit costly but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing to live with a little more noise and some additional cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should please almost everyone.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features that will let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner, similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and fills up the water tank, as well as washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its premium competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection however, it wasn't foolproof in our testing and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner comes with a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home in accordance with the degree of dirt they tend to be.

For bigger homes, it's worth opting for a model with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean one particular area of your home using the app or voice controls. iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you would think from its price. It's a pro at vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion, which does a better job cleaning than the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to organize an automatic spot-clean. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas for greater efficiency. The app offers a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has strong 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. You can also create a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble adorable eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it's more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums that we have tested. It also comes with an app that is less intuitive and has a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
