However, they do have a few flaws however, which prevent them from being our first choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.

However, it's a good choice to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a iRobot Roomba and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and works while you're at work or in school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be swapped for a wet one in minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features self-emptying dustbins as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, though it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With an elegant circular design that appears more like a normal Roomba than the competition's boxy units this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most appealing looking in our reviews. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads autonomously).

It's the only robot cleaner with mop vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically empty the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and washes and drys mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of a combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and identify obstacles, navigating more intelligently than some of its premium rivals. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.
