1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The iRobot Roomba i3+ is a great robot vacuum that comes with several smart features that make it easier to maintain. It's also simple to set up and use, with the app guiding you step-by-step through the process. Another feature that is impressive is the ability to return to the spot where it was when we tested it. It did this for 77 minutes in one cleaning, before running out of battery.

The i3+ EVO, unlike some of the other robot vacuums we tested has a self-emptying bin that automatically disposes of debris into an external dirt compartment on its charging base when it is fully filled. This makes it easier to maintain the unit and also helps prevent the i3+ EVO from overfilling, but it still needs to be manually emptied after every cleaning session. The i3+ EVO's inner dust bin holds 2.4L of waste and is enough to get it through five or four cleaning sessions before you have to replace it.

The i3+ EVO, just like the i7, uses cutting-edge floor-tracking sensors to produce maps. It also allows you to navigate through neat rows. The i3+ EVO can only store one map, while the i7 can store multiple. The i7's map can be used to create virtual barriers and no-go zones but not the i3+ EVO.

The i3+ EVO does a better job of removing surface debris compared to some other robovacs we've reviewed, but it is not the most effective in cleaning edges and corners. It's also more abrasive on furniture, despite being remarkably silent. It was a bit rough on furniture, since it pushed chairs away. It also caused collisions with the sides of the bed.

2. Black & Decker Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro is an excellent choice for expanding your robot vacuum collection, robot vacuum cleaner Quiet or just getting started. It packs a lot of power, smart navigation and easy automation into a sleek design for a reasonable price. The Q5 Pro's 240 minute running time is also generous when contrasted with other 2-in-1 robots we tested. If the battery is depleted it returns to its dock and automatically recharges, before starting cleaning where it left off. You can manage the Q5 Pro via the app and also use voice commands using Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant.

You can schedule cleanings or set up no-go zones. You can also see the battery status. The app is simple to use, but it isn't compatible with Apple HomeKit and that feature is slated to be added in 2025. Apple updated its website's footnote in early November to reflect that this feature has been delayed until 2025. HomeKit isn't compatible with other robots, however Siri Shortcuts are.

This model uses an internal dToF LiDAR sensor to map your home and design efficient cleaning routes. The iMop was highly rated for its accuracy and navigation. It also did an excellent job of avoiding obstacles such as furniture. It's also able to locate its way back to the base station which is a nice feature in case it's running out of battery during cleaning.

It also comes with a spot cleaning mode that allows you to clean or mop a specific area of your floor. It can also be manually programmed to follow a specific path, which is useful in narrow staircases or hallways. In our carpet cleaning test, it did a good job cleaning carpets. However, it struggled to clean carpets and rugs with thick piles. It can be set up to lift the mop pad when it comes into contact with carpet.
