WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the Item level upgrade level by +3. Each upgrade also increases a random substat.

The more modernized gear generally has a more value in trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or a very high stat variation (like Eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as important for the latter because of the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of armor or weapons. However, the item that is used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader once every few weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.

Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item, but they will always be cheaper than buying new gear. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from NPCs of item upgraders for various currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any weapon, tool, or armor. The button will show the preview of an item's next upgrade level when there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item and the current level of the item as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Many locations offer item upgrader mod upgraders which include the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and the chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players finish certain achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are only available through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit as well as a drawback.

In Season 3, a number of new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once a player has upgraded to a certain level of item for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This is true even if the items are from an entirely different set of equipment.

The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is account-wide. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is reduced as well, but is only available when certain milestones have been reached.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading gear in WoW, players have a few choices. Flightstones are an item that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are used for specific item upgrades level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.

First, you must be aware that the crests can only be purchased for equipment that is of a particular rank. Each rank has distinct upgrade paths. The simplest and simplest upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complicated requires as many as 20 crests based on the type of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by finishing content at the appropriate level. For instance it's a good idea to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment available and save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning on making. This is particularly relevant for rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character that will be able to benefit from the account-wide discount if all of the slots are filled with top-quality gear.
