Upgrades to equipment provide an additional bonus to the item's stats. This bonus is based on the upgrade component's level and rarity.

Components

Upgrade components are the items that can make your weapons and armor better. You can locate them through destroying enemies, buying them from karma vendors or finding them in item-spheres. You can also get them from equipment that contains the components or through high-tier salvage kits such as Black Lion Salvage Kit and Ascended Salvage Tool. In contrast to other items upgrades aren't destroyed when they are removed from an item.

The main purpose of upgrade components is to allow an item to be upgraded, but they also serve other purposes. They can be stacked to increase the quality of an item that can be upgraded or they can be used to increase the amount of experience gained from upgrading an existing weapon or piece of equipment. They can also be forged to give additional bonuses. For example, a crafted glyph will boost the chances of upgrading its target, and the boost upgrade can increase the attack or defense quality of a weapon or armor.

Selecting an upgrade template from the GUI will let you bind it to an item. This will display the list of upgrade components that the item can be upgraded to. Alternately, you can make use of the workbench to choose an upgrade template. In either scenario, an item will be upgraded when enough upgrade components have been collected.

Each component has its own experience multiplier. This determines the amount of experience an item gains when upgraded with that component. Organic components, for instance have an increased multiplier of experience than mechanical components. It is therefore recommended to upgrade using organic components until you have reached the experience multiplier for the next rank of weapon or gear, and then switch to mechanical upgrades.

Each item has an upgrade maximum number that can be received. The number of items that are upgradeable is determined by their upgradeable rank and the kind of upgrade they can get. The highest level of upgrade is a weapon with 10th level. However, the most commonly used weapon upgrades are a tier 6 weapon and an armor upgrade of tier 5.

Sets

Upgrades can be completed through the NPC [Armor] Boboko in the Central Flarine. To upgrade an item, you will require the required amount of Minerals and Erons and a power dice of each kind. They can be purchased with Gold at the crafting table or in the Ultra Collection. NPCs will also provide special rewards for each level of the upgrade process. Rerolling

A player is able to reroll any item acquired in the game if they have enough tokens. If an item is rerolled, it will be replaced by the same level in another set. Reroll tokens are sold at the store for a small sum of in-game currency. They cannot be refunded. The upgraded item will have the same bonuses of the first, but its stats will differ too.

Players can change the identity of equipment in addition to changing it's roll by interfacing with a NPC upgrader.
