The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have test. They are equipped with motors that are top-of-the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other premium iRobot models (including the top pick), they use smart mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also feature a feature called Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept in removing dog hair. There are some issues however, which hinder them from being our first option. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to become stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well during our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a great option, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also extremely quiet and operates while you are at work or at school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be changed for one that is wet in just a few just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also features a self-emptying bin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets, but it's not as good as other hoovers when it comes to deep cleaning.

It did a good cleaning job on different rooms and floors with various flooring types, including some area rugs. It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically fills up its base, and also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. 3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

This robot vacuums with mop vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the bulky models from the competitors. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's also the only robot vacuum or mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely self-refill and empty its base station and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to use. It has an easy mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's loud that could be problematic if you run it in the morning before work, or at night when you try to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. If you're willing to live with a little more noise and some extra cost this is a capable two-in-one that should delight most.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes care of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and detect obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its top competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection however this was not 100% reliable in our tests and was often confused with power cords or robot vacuum and mop obstructions.

Its vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the house based on how dirty the areas are.

For bigger homes it's recommended to choose one that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean one specific area of your home using the app or voice commands. If you have furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. Additionally a recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum continue where it left off is great for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than the price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion, which cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or set up a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app also grants access to a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction, as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its style, much like Dolce & Gabbana.
